If you listen to folks who oppose immigration and border enforcement, you get the feeling they think we put locks on our doors to keep everybody out. The truth is we have locks so we can choose who comes in.
An example of what happens when we dont make the choice took place August 4th when three Newark, New Jersey, college students with great promise were executed, gangland style. The killers ringleader was apparently an illegal alien indicted twice in 2007 for felonies, including the rape of a kindergarten-aged girl.
Why would such a person be set free instead of being handed over to authorities for deportation? The answer is that Newark is a sanctuary city which bans cooperation between local officials and federal immigration officials. More than 60 sanctuary zones, including 30 of Americas largest cities, provide a national networked haven for foreign and organized criminals who recruit and operate outside those areas as well. These sanctuaries include Cambridge, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Austin and Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; and New York City.
The consequences of sanctuary cities may be most obvious in the city that became the first in 1979 Los Angeles. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, a confidential California Department of Justice study from the mid-1990s showed then that at least 60 percent of the members of L.A.s most violent gangs, with membership in the tens of thousands, were illegal aliens. Of all outstanding murder warrants in Los Angeles, 95 percent are for illegal aliens. Frustrated police say they are powerless to pick up even well-known, previously deported felons.

Baltimore should not only be in that list, but on top.
RICO Citizen Recourse
Private persons and entities may initiate civil suits to obtain injunctions and treble damages against enterprises that conspire to or actually violate federal alien smuggling, harboring, or document fraud statutes, under the Racketeer-Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO). The pattern of racketeering activity is defined as commission of two or more of the listed crimes. A RICO enterprise can be any individual legal entity, or a group of individuals who are not a legal entity but are associated in fact, and can include nonprofit associations.
Heres what Ive been pushing: its time to file Racketeering, Influencing, and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) lawsuits.
RICO lawyers could turn it around in a few years and MAKE MONEY at the same time. Im surprised they havent done it already.
In the absence of enforcement, we can get the word out in the meantime that there is money to be made in filing RICO lawsuits against employers who hire illegal aliens like this scumbag.
Employers would have no trouble shutting down the border if they could get sued by someone under the RICO statutes for hiring these people in the first place. The next time an illegal alien kills someone in a drunk driving accident or somesuch thing, Im going to point out that the victims family might be able to seek compensation from the employer under these statutes in the hopes that it would catch on. If this did catch on, would see such a swift backlash against illegal immigration that no employer would go near these people and theyll all simply want to go back home.
Don’t forget Minneapolis and St. Paul......
Newark is a “santuary city” with three young (and black) college students murdered by corrupt democrat party policicians, from the pathetic excuse for a mayor on down.
They are just as guilty as the vermin they put on the streets who pulled the triggers.
If you are stupid enough to vote democrat, prepare to pay a horrific price.
I do love your thinking on that and fervently hope that a peaceful solution could be brought about through the use of the courts. I’m just afraid it’s far too late for that. We have probably 20-30 million people here who have come from Third World oligarchies and dictatorships where problems and differences are solved by means of either violence or bribery. If actions which would be effective in getting them gone were to be undertaken, the violence would be widespread. Don’t get me wrong, though. It would be a necessary violence. Made “necessary” by the years of our so-called “leaders” allowing things to go on unchecked.
I believe both of those men together on a ticket would change the country for the best.
I intended to write my next column on this subject, and still will, since my take will be slightly different. And, I don't believe that Fred is sitting in front of his computer, reading the news and then researching his response. Staff folks do all that. But Fred must make the final decisions on what goes out and why, since for the nonce, these articles ARE his campaign.
Congressman Billybob
We’ll hear from Fred if he decides to do something like that:)
Cracking down on employers would be good thing, but the subject of this article is really the number of violent criminals that are living here illegaly.
They don’t have law-abiding employers. They work for drug cartels, protection rackets, prostitution rings, car theft, gun dealing, etc. Criminal enterprises for whom lawsuits for assisting illegal immigration is the least of their worries. Of course, these are also the people most likely to “solve” their problem by killing off the people that filed the lawsuit or that would be witnesses in the lawsuit.
If employment in non-criminal industries (food service, construction, etc.) is closed to illegal aliens, there is a real danger that they will simply move into the criminal industries rather than self-deport as we’d wish.
So as attractive as the civil lawsuit approach is, we need the LEO crackdown as well. We need an effective fence, cops willing to get these people off the streets, heavily armed anti-gang units for the violent criminals, an ICE willing to deport them if they are not imprisoned for violent crimes, and a border patrol that can keep them from returning.
But...but...Fred is pro-illegal! And he’s lazy! < /JCecles >
This deserves a flashing light on Drudge.

In a world that was not so far out of kilter a state or city government that refused to support the enforcement of federal law would lose all federal funding. The sanctuary thing just shows how very far we have wandered off the path that made the US the great nation it has been for 200 plus years.
Judging from the most recent polls it appears the vast majority, nearly 80 percent, of the America is ready to put things right by sealing our borders and sending the illegals back to where they came from. It might well be that we’ll end up with $11 per head lettuce and tomatoes that cost us $3 each, and we might even have to resort to mowing and edging our own lawns, but I bet I know how the families of at least three young people in NJ feel about it.
I know it’s racist, and therefore not acceptable, but I remember I a bumper sticker I saw years ago in Alabama that read “If I had known then what I know now I’d have picked my own cotton”. I think the next one is going to read “If I had known then what I know now I have mowed my own yard.”
Makes too much sense, Kev.
