On a scorching July afternoon, as the temperature creeps toward 118 degrees in a quiet suburb east of Phoenix, Ric Hoogestraat sits at his computer with the blinds drawn, smoking a cigarette. “Cheating” is debatable. But, he’s a pretty bad husband - a loser if you will.

Heh heh...my husband gets grumpy if I even have the computer on when he’s around. I resent it a little when when there’s something newsy going on, because I love news and don’t trust the major networks...but most of the time I’m glad it’s off.

That’s pretty sick. Why don’t these people get a real life?

"Virtual" lunacy!!"

You ain't kiddin'.

A neighbor, who lives on the next block, just bought a "full up" customized AlienWare system for the sole purpose of enhancing his 'Second Life' experience. (shaking my head). Unreal.

A game where you have a job, pets, pay a mortgage and are dragged to the mall by women....

Uh.. who thinks virtually living a life is entertaining? Last thing I want to do when I get a few minutes of free time is play a game that’s just like real life.

Get out and actually meet people and do things you insane people you.

(NOTE TO SELF, if you ever find yourself dating again, make sure to ask if they are involved in second life.. and if they are... end date quickly.)

“You try to talk to someone or bring them a drink, and they’ll be having sex with a cartoon.”

I wonder if Mr. Hoogenstom realizes that the person playing the redhead is not necessarily a woman at all.
