Virginia Episcopal Bishop Peter J. Lee defrocked 20 of his former clergy, 18 men and two women, in a document signed Aug. 1, saying they had “abandoned” the church when they quit the denomination last year over the 2003 consecration of an openly homosexual bishop.

Kookier and kookier. How can you fire someone who has already quit? I am Episcopalian and I can't make any sense of so many things - but maybe I'm being too analytical.

Somehow it has to do with money, not spirituality. Pensions, health plans, etc - just like any other corporation.

What a shame that the church for which Falls Church, Virginia was named has to be included in this mess.
