You're lucky...or should I say "blessed" to be near the Gulf. I love fresh seafood.
I have wide-mouth bass in the pond in my backyard...so I'm limited in variety. We used to have catfish....but I think the beaver took them out. I haven't seen any in years.

Those large mouth bass are why you don’t have any catfish left. Had a small pond at our place in Panola County, when the drought almost dried it up there was 1 BIG large mouth bass left. Nothing else! They everything they can swallow.

Seriously tho... the "pond" is about 8 acres large....and it would take a few more catfish... than "I" could catch....just to stock it. Most of my efforts are being focused with the deteriorating dam right now. The massive flooding we've had ...has caused the spillway to erode... which caused a 40ft section of the dam to give way. Can't get equipment in there to repair it until the rain stops and the ground dries.
When all is tight and dry again....I might consider restocking with a better mix of fish. :)
