Blog Pimpin is for Playas Only!!
No disrespect meant whatsoever, but it brings to mind the old Army ditty, to the tune of The Colonel Bogey March (theme song from Bridge over the River Kwai to those of you from Loma Linda), "Re-up and buy a brand new car; Re-up, show what a fool you are; Re-up, I rather throw up than re-up by far." BTW, the guy who taught me that re-upped and got killed in a training accident, through no fault of his own.
The Services are known for gallows humor.
While it is good to take care of those who defend this country and ensure that they do not suffer for their sacrifice, it is very, very bad that we are now Hessianizing our military because the better-off Americans enjoying the secure comforts that freedom brings refuse to do their share of its labors.
Bring back the draft, and draft those who have the highest family incomes first. Your new lottery number will be the Income line on your Form 1040.
And automatically draft any draft age politician or their children.
Why not?
The Army as I remember had these basics:
1) Everyone complained about the food, even though the food is just average;
2) Everyone complained about the profanity in the Army, even though everyone uses profanity;
3) Everyone complains about basic training, jump school, ranger school, etc. but then brags about it after completion.
20k sign up bonus first made me think of Ice Road Truckers. I don’t have a Military back ground but, I wonder what the contracting rate is?
FWIW, in my unit the food was exceptional. (Army truck drivers on the autobahn would always ate at our mess hall, given a chance.)
I thought basic training was pretty easy, physically, and not particularly challenging mentally. ( I had 12 years of Catholic school and ran cross country.)
I F*&*%^* never heard any f#@%^#$ s&^%^ complain about the $%#@*&.
Including the females? "Daddy" ain't gonna go for that for his widdle sweetums!
Rio Linda, Not Loma Linda. The Seven Day Adventist might take issue with you!
4) Everyone hated being overseas but the lines were long to volunteer to go back.
5) Everyone couldn't wait to get back to the world but the only thing they could talk about when they got there was the buddies they left behind. I retired from the USA/Rangers many years ago but the huge pull of loyalty and wanting to be a part of my unit is still huge. The same with my retired military friends. A warrior is a warrior forever.
YES, SIR! < drops and gives you twenty > Won’t make that mistake, again, SIR!
The Army is where I learned that interesting word, FUBAR.
The worst kind of blog pimp: one whose blog stinks.
While we’re at it, let’s eliminate Pell grants et al. No more “G.I. Bill without the G.I. service”. If you want milk from the public teat, you’re gonna have to serve for it....
Before the anti rich folks go nuts on me, life ain’t fair and it never will be. TANSTAAFL
LOL! I wasn’t really surprised be Army and all. Go Navy!
With Pell grants, we let any bozo who wants to study basket weaving steal from the Treasury to piddle away on a joke of an education, whether the skill is needed or not.
