July 28, 2007 -- From Russia with . . . hate? Police yesterday arrested a Pace University student born in the former Soviet Union and charged him with a hate crime for allegedly clogging toilets with the Koran on two occasions last year.
Business major Stanislav Shmulevich, 23, was collared at his Brooklyn home after cops confronted him with surveillance photos from the incidents last Oct. 13 and Nov. 21.
In both cases, a teacher discovered a Koran in a second-floor toilet at 1 Pace Plaza in lower Manhattan.

The treacherous Lieberals are working hard to turn us into a nation of Dhimmis. If this student flushed the Holy Bible, the Left would give him a ticker tape parade in NYC. Stand and fight the Leftist thought police.
Hate crime? Unbelievable! If he is guilty of anything it is attempted defilement of the sewer system.
Check connections to Chechnya or Beslan to see if he lost any family at the hands of the muslim killers.
In all seriousness, I wouldn't care what book he tore pages out of, even the Holy Bible, nor what he did with them. If there is anything to religion, I wouldn't be the one this guy has to worry about getting angry.
Besides, what right does society have to determine whether or not a person can express hate for allah or God or Jesus or some deity and if that expression is a crime? Freedom of speech meet Freedom of (or from) religion.
Let me see if I got this right...submerging a crucifix in urine and spattering a picture of the Virgin Mary with feces is socially acceptable but clogging a toilet with the Koran is a hate crime. Is that essentially it?

This is in pretty bad taste (for much the same reason that the Virgin Mary in urine was in bad taste), but - hate crime? Notsomuch. Just highlights the absurdity of “hate crime” (read: thought crime) legislation.
So now damaging a book is a hate crime. Riight.
I want to know who the victim/plaintiff/whatever is, unless the book will be representing itself in court...

This has nothing to do with clogging toilets...you wonder why the nypost had to report it as such.
