Obama solicits La Raza backing

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Sen. Barack Obama told the nation's largest Hispanic advocacy group yesterday that he earned their support for his presidential campaign by marching in last year's May 1 immigrant rallies and challenged them to learn whether others met that standard.

"Find out how many senators appeared before an immigration rally last year. Who was talking the talk, and who walked the walk — because I walked," Mr. Obama said at the National Council of La Raza's annual convention in Miami Beach... "

The Illinois Democrat said the recent Senate immigration debate "was both ugly and racist in a way we haven't see since the struggle for civil rights."...

The bill's collapse galvanized Hispanic voters and advocacy groups, who say it exposed an anti-immigrant and anti-Hispanic strain among American voters. The groups are vowing to fight back by pointing out when they think the debate turns hateful and are promising to register Hispanic voters so they can show their displeasure at the polls...

Mr. Obama was the most forceful, promising "in my first term we will make this a priority and get this done." Mrs. Clinton said she couldn't predict an outcome, but would "promise my best efforts."...

"I am very disappointed {that the bill didn't pass}, and I was really quite offended by the tone of the debate and some of what was said by outside parties who were trying to influence the debate," she said. She blamed the tone on what she called a poor economy under President Bush...

"Who was talking the talk, and who walked the walk"

Why not take the REAL walk....right back across the border to Mexico, with the rest of this pack of illegal invaders that you are supporting?

This is garbage. And the lack of political IQ enables the masses to eat this up. “Poor Economy” to blame? Are you kidding me? What numbers support this statement? This is a outright lie. ANd Mr Obama, you rage about equality yet you march with a group called “the race”. ? This country is in deep dire if these fools actually make it to the White House.

And Oprah is hosting a star-studded fund raising shindig at her $50 million estate in Montecito, California (5 miles south of Santa Barbara) for this left-wing “former” Muslim Obama. The fund-raisier is scheduled for Sept. 8th.
(Perhaps she should hold it on September 11th)?

Just picturing this upcoming Obama love fest is enough to make me barf.

“Obama solicits La Raza backing”

Isn’t this the equivalent of seeking the endorsement of: (pick one) The KKK, The National White Peoples’ Party, The Black Panthers, Aryan Nation, CAIR, etc?
Or are minority racist groups desirable? I’m confused... Of course, I'm also confused why La Raza doesn't get the legal scrutiny like most of the above.

Radio host Larry Elder, who supported the Senate bill, mentioned this as a “I told you so” moment.

He made a prediction that Dems will accuse GOP of “hating” Latinos because the Senate bill failed to pass...

Elder thought that the GOP would not be vulnerable to “racism” charge if the Senate bill had passed...

OK...I like to listen to Elder most of time.

This time, I don’t go along with his reasoning.
Following Elder’s reasoning, GOP should be for raising taxes on “rich”. After all, GOP doesn’t want to be accused of kissing up to “rich”.

Come on...DEMS would accuse GOP of being “racist” no matter what.
