Tancredo to Offer Amendment That Would Free Ramos, Compean
Congressional Web Site ^ | July 18, '07 | Press Release

Posted on 07/21/2007 1:09:40 AM PDT by T.L.Sink

U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo today announced plans to offer an amendment to an annual spending bill that would prevent the Bush administration from using any funds to enforce the judgment or sentences imposed by a federal judge in the case of U.S. vs. Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean. If adopted, the amendment would force the release of two former Border Patrol agents whose case has been the focus of national news for several months. "Americans have been waiting months for the President to right this wrong and I'm not going to wait any longer," said Tancredo. "It's time that the Congress took matters into its own hands." "This Kangaroo court in Texas has made a decision but Congress is under no obligation to provide the administration with the funds they need to enforce it," Tancredo continued. Article I of the U.S. Constitution provides Congress with absolute authority over spending matters. "This wouldn't be the first time Congress has stepped in and used its authority under the Constitution to overturn a brainless decision by a federal court," Tancredo said. By blocking the use of any funds to enforce the guilty verdict, or to impose the egregious sentence handed down in the Ramos case, Tancredo's amendment would have the effect of freeing the two agents from federal custody.

While other presidential candidates are silent or consulting focus groups or the latest polls, Tancredo tells it like it is! No wonder he's been banned from the White House - the truth is unwelcome there.

They should be released and Bush should tell the truth about what he is doing behind the American people’s back that he won’t talk about. We absolutely should not accept this. He owes us the truth because it is our future and the future of our children and grandchildren he is playing havoc with. I am sick and tired of him stonewalling.

It is sad if the stories are true that he could be in with the Clintons, etc. It’s just not the Clintons, it’s the very honor of a man who was elected President of the United States.

What grieves me the most because I have no choice to believe otherwise is how a man and the people behind him or with him could do so well with the war on one hand and throw it all away as fast as he/they can with the other hand.

I am sorry; but this is my future and the future of generatios to come and we should know the truth.

DITTO!

This is one reason why we must be very selective in ‘08.

I think you’re right about that. Bush has certainly made some good decisions in foreign policy. But, in my opinion, he is NO conservative. He’s sponsored the biggest entitlement since LBJ, refused to veto any pork or wasteful spending bill and has been more concerned with Iraq’s borders than our own. I think America should rid itself of these political dynasties - Bush and Clintons - who have come to think that they have an entitlement to public office just because they were all born on third base. I think this is why some people drop out and don’t vote. Why bother to decide between “tweedle-dum” and “tweedle-dee”?

Bush must ‘pardon’ Ramos & Compeon first,

Apologize to their families,

Declare them American heroes,

And make them ‘poster boys’ for securing the border once and for all.

Bush will give Ramos & Compeon the job of traveling the borders to certify compilation.

Bush then apologizes to the Minutemen for calling them vigilantes, and endorses them.

Ain't gonna happen anytime soon, since Jorge admitted on Thursday that Johnny Sutton was a "dear friend" from Texas, and all that that implies.

Phooey!

I just love the guy. He isn't afraid to take a stand. Say you what you will about Tom Tancredo, the GOP establishment hates him because he rocks the boat... and he's done it again!

Those BP agents shot a drug dealer in the back then covered it up. They even got fellow agents to help. They should not be pardoned. We cannot have our law enforcement officers behave like this.

If they had followed proper procedures, they would not be in prison today.

Was it Roger Hitchcock guest-hosting for Rush yesterday?

His explanation of the rationale and forces behind the Ramos/Compean prosecution was extremely disturbing.

It was basically that GWB had promised Mexico that he’d “ensure the civil rights” of all border jumpers, and Ramos/Compean were simply used to set an example for other BP Officers.

Baloney ---

If Johnny Sutton's office had followed proper procedures, the drug smuggler would be in prison instead of them.

That old dog won't hunt anymore. These Sutton/Bush talking points are insulting to any person who has bothered to inform himself of the actual facts of this case and to any citizen who takes seriously his responsibility for upholding justice.

Right, they should not have shot at a suspect fleeing the scene, it is a human right to flee from law enforcement guys! What perp would have thought that they might be shot at? In the butt yet! Unbelieveable!

The drug smuggler was not “shot in the back.” That’s one of Sutton’s lies. When the smuggler was treated by doctors their report said he was struck by the bullet in the SIDE of one buttock - which ballistic experts said would be the very area if he were in a turning-around position to fire a weapon. Which is exactly what Ramos thought was happening.
