LOL! I'm guessing on the same principle that applies to traffic slowing down to goggle at a fender bender at the side of the road.
You know it can't affect you, you're compelled to gawk anyway, and there's not much you can do beyond calling the proper authorities - in this case, Crocodile Dundee.
