MOUNT LEBANON - A 33-year-old man is facing charges after police in Mt. Lebanon allegedly found several homemade explosives in his car. Police say they stopped him for speeding but he was unusually nervous. The man allegedly told police he had dynamite.

Passenger carrying knife on flight called 'isolated incident' (Calgary,Canada)
Tuesday, July 31, 2007

A lapse in security that allowed a passenger to board a plane travelling from Calgary to Ottawa with a knife is an "isolated incident," said an airport security spokeswoman.

A device similar to a Swiss Army knife showed up in the man's hand baggage as it went through the security X-ray on Sunday night, said Anna-Karina Tabunar, a spokeswoman with Canadian Air Transport Security Authority. The passenger managed to pick up his bag and board his flight. Security officers had to use closed-circuit television to figure out who they were looking for and the man was intercepted when the plane landed in Ottawa, she said. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2007/07/31/security-calairport.html

Pirate Radio Stations Interfering With Israeli Airport Traffic
7/31/2007

BRUSSELS, Belgium - Broadcasts from illegal radio stations near Israel's main international airport are jeopardizing flight safety by jamming communications between pilots and air traffic controllers, an international pilots' association said Tuesday.Advertisement

"In recent months, the situation has worsened, with the pirate transmissions frequently blocking air-to-ground communications," said a statement from the London-based International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations. The problem at Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport has become so severe in recent weeks that the airport had to stop operations for hours at time due to pirate radio broadcasts, the IFALPA's regional representative Capt. Zvi Rosenberg said.
