Hats off to the Dems who voted agains this crap: Bayh (D-IN), Bingaman (D-NM), Brown (D-OH), Byrd (D-WV), Dorgan (D-ND), Harkin (D-IA), Landrieu (D-LA), McCaskill (D-MO), Nelson (D-NE), Pryor (D-AR), Rockefeller (D-WV), Sanders (I-VT), Stabenow (D-MI), Tester (D-MT) and Webb (D-VA).

They include: Bennett (R-UT), Bond (R-MO), Brownback (R-KS), Burr (R-NC), Coleman (R-MN), Collins (R-ME), Craig (R-ID), Domenici (R-NM), Ensign (R-NV), McConnell (R-KY), Murkowski (R-AK), Stevens (R-AK), Voinovich (R-OH) and Warner (R-VA)
Dilios: He did not wish tribute, nor song, or monuments or poems of war and valor. His wish was simple. "Remember us" he said to me. That was his hope, should any free soul come across that place, in all the countless centuries yet to be. "May all our voices whisper to you from the ageless stones, "Go tell the Spartans, passerby, that here by Spartan law, we lie." And so my king died, and my brothers died; barely a year ago. Long I pondered my king's cryptic talk of victory, but time has proven him wise, for from free Greek to free Greek, the word was spread that bold Leonidas and his 300, so far from home, laid down their lives... not just for Sparta, but for all Greece and the promise this country holds. Now here on this ragged patch of earth called Plateaea, let his hordes face obliteration! Just there, the barbarians gather, sheer terror gripping tight their hearts with icy fingers, knowing full well what merciless horrors they suffered at the swords and spears of 300. Yet they stare now across the plain at 10,000 Spartans commanding 30,000 free Greeks! Ho! The enemy outnumber us a paltry three to one! Good odds for any Greek. This day we rescue a world from mysticism and tyranny, and usher in a future brighter than anything we could imagine. Give thanks, men, to Leonidas and the brave 300! To victory!
The next morning (possibly September 28, but the exact date is unknown; the Hellenic Navy celebrates September 12 as Battle of Salamis Day), the Persians were exhausted from searching for the Greeks all night, but they sailed in to the straits anyway to attack the Greek fleet. When it became obvious to the Greeks that the battle was inevitable morale rose, the fleet enthusiastically took to sea and started singing the "paean"
Forward, sons of the Greeks,
Your children, your women, the altars of the gods of your fathers
And the graves of your forebears:
Now is the fight for everything.
Conservatives, we did it. We held OUR Congress accountable, against seemingly a unsurmountable invasion backed by those who attempt to control with wealth and greed. Let them know forever more, this is OUR country, OUR government. The only power they have is what we lend them. And today we showed that WE are THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, where freedom exists because we are willing to fight for it.
We should work to get rid of every last one of the RINOs every opportunity we get because about 90+% of the time they’re going to foil our efforts. Challenge them in the primaries and vote Democrat in the general, if that doesn’t work, and every once in awhile we’ll get rid of ONE! Otherwise, we’ll continue to be stuck with all of them except for the ones the Democrats manage to take out without our help.
As much as it sickens me to see that Judd Greg voted for this piece of crap, it is misleading to label him as a RINO.
In Virginia, it has been reported that John Warner has decided to retire, but will not announce his decision until later in order to help the candidacy of Northern Virginia Congressman Thomas M. Davis.
Allard has already announced his retirement.
Cochran, Craig, and Hagel are rumored to retire or run for VP(Hagel).
Here you go Jack! RINOs for re-election list below.
Our next job is to TARGET THEM in their primaries.
I am serious, enough with this...
2008 ELECTION - AMNESTY ACTION LIST:
RINOs voting YEA, up for re-election in 2008 - RECRUIT OPPONENTS:
Craig, Larry (R-Id) (may retire)
Graham, Lindsay (R-SC) (a leader in the pro-amnesty effort)
Hagel, Chuck (R-Neb) (may retire)
“Switched” votes today, up for re-election in 2008, unreliable - KEEP UP PRESSURE, recruit opponent:
Warner, John (R-Va) (may retire)
Switched over course of bill, lesson learned for re-election in 2008? - KEEP UP PRESSURE, recruit opponent:
Chambliss, Saxby (R-Ga)
McConnell, Mitch (R, Ky - Minority Leader)
GOOD GUYS up for re-election in 2008, deserve our $Support:
Sessions, Jeff (R-Ala)
Cornyn, John (R-Tx)
This list isn't complete, it's a start.
Warner VA has to go as an all around country club squish.
Voinovich OH is a whiny, incompetent, out-classed by Sean Hannity. Has to go.
Bond MO played games with his voters on this issue, he wanted more debate. Chucklehead, has to go.
Take down the RINOs bump.
Ohio is in the Rust belt. Brown probably realized that voting for a bill that wants to bring in 400,000 guest workers a year would not be good for his fellow Ohioians.
I don’t understand your position at all. At what point is there even any difference between a liberal rhino and a liberal rat? Just because they have the title Republican, doesn’t make them one. If we keep electing liberal rhinos, then they will take over the party completely. Sometimes you have to suffer some losses in order to clean house.
Today’s defeat of cloture is a small one. It’s important that we make the traitors pay at the next election.
But if all of those R’s are liberal rhinos, it won’t make a bit of difference. The end result will be the same as if the lib rats were in charge. Rhinos don’t stay on the reservation. They don’t support conservative bills.
I hear ya on the Senate. I was referring strictly to the WH. As we have all found out, having an "R" in the WH was a huge detriment to the future of the United States regarding amnesty for 20 million illegals. This amnesty would have been a sure way to bankrupt our Social Security system, permanently change the face of our land, surrender parts of our country to a hostile people without even a fight, and keep our borders open to the, (no doubt), THOUSANDS of terrorists who have managed to waltz into our country and lay down their sleeper cells. And the Pres didn't even give all that a second thought. He stood shoulder-to-shoulder with Ted Kennedy and Dingy Harry Reid, for God's sake. So I can't help but re-ask my original question: "what would be the difference between another RINO in the WH or a Democrat"?
I hope Al Sharpton doesn't read those words, he'll clame the Greeks are racist bigots. :o)
Great post, thanks.
On our local talk radio show, a black woman called in and was incensed about the shamnesty bill. She said if they were going to give the illegals all ‘this stuff’ the blacks wanted their ‘forty acres and a mule’. I thought that was a verrry interesting comment.
I thought I saw Brown making a speech to SUPPORT the bill earlier in the day.
I have gotten e-mails for money from Cornyn and Coleman. Cornyn has been great on many things, and ended up being great against this bill. Coleman said in his solicitation letter that he was against amnesty, and needed help because his seat was being targeted by the dims (Al Franken wants it). With his early ‘yes’ vote, I told him not to ask for more money.
On another thread, it was mentioned that Craig’s vote may have been based on agriculture-related businesses.
