KEVIN Trenberth is head of the large US National Centre for Atmospheric Research and one of the advisory high priests of the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). A New Zealander by birth, Trenberth has had a distinguished career as a climate scientist with interests in the use of computer General Circulation Models (GCMs), the basis for most of the public alarm about dangerous global warming.
When such a person gives an opinion about the scientific value of GCMs as predictive tools, it is obviously wise to pay attention.
In a remarkable contribution to Nature magazine's Climate Feedback blog, Trenberth concedes GCMs cannot predict future climate and claims the IPCC is not in the business of climate prediction. This might be news to some people.

I like the term. Certainly better than "GW Deniers."
I particularly liked the comment posted in the comments section by a professor Jon Jenkins: “Jeff, the con is almost over.”
Spectacular article.
It is about time that these alarmists start to concede that what they are doing has no predictive value, and is only the result of “modeling” that has very little relationship to reality.
Someday, they’ll start to talk about the Sun and trying to figure out what its relationship is to climate - long and short term. Inquiring minds like the farmers around here want to find out what monumental discoveries they’ll be able to make with the addition of only ten or twenty billion dollars or so regarding that relationship.
“I’m speechless.
You mean the debate is not settled?”
Gee, I wish I knew how to put your quote in italics as it’s the preferred method here, but I haven’t figured that one out yet. Anyway...amazing candid remarks from the guy who has been the main proponent of computer modeling. I told an acquaintance a few days ago, who happens to be one of the AGW sheeple, that I’d wager a large sum of money that the whole AGW theory will be discredited within five years. He declined the wager after I showed him thyis article....he was also...speechless.
