A few years back I read a review in The Los Angeles Times on a new
book on Pol Pot.
The author proposed that the intersection of Pol Pot's Communistic
fervor with his Buddhism (sort of accepting that whatever happens
just happens) allowed him to turn into a monster.
I don't know if that was a fair comment on Buddhism. But I was
shocked to see a writer to lay even partial blame for mass murder
to any religion other than Christianity.
And that such a premise was allowed to appear in The Los Angeles Times.

Well, Buddhism is fatalistic, and can be blamed for a fatalistic mindset or predisposition. But I wouldn't blame Pol Pot's genocide on anything but communism.
