Somewhere, Gandhi is fasting in protest.

Was Ghandi a proponent of religious freedom? I know little of his life.

The following quote is from the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom, Hearings on Religious Freedom in India and Pakistan held in September, 2000:


Mahatma Gandhi was once asked what if a Hindu comes to feel that he can only be saved by Jesus Christ? Gandhi's reply may be paraphrased thus: so be it, but why should he cease to be a Hindu?"


I guess that quote is open to interpretation, but I doubt he would have been supportive of what's happening to Christians in India right now.

Yes he was. So much so that he gave away part of India to become Pakistan !
