TEHRAN, June 12 (Reuters) - Iran will make the United States "regret" its detention earlier this year of five Iranians in Iraq, Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki was quoted as saying on Tuesday.
Iran says the five Iranians detained by U.S. forces in Iraq in January are diplomats and have demanded their release. U.S. officials say they were involved in supporting militants inside Iraq.
"We will make the Americans regret their ugly and illegal action against the Islamic Republic of Iran's consulate in Arbil, Iraq, and the abduction of the five Iranian diplomats," Mottaki was quoted as saying by the Web site of the state broadcaster.
Even as I type, Condi Rice is preparing a cruise-piano-playing diplomatic volley to fire across the Iranian bow.
Maddy Albright tap dancing to follow the main course.
Gee, wonder what they’d do if we took over one of their embassies.
So now we know why they have taken the four Iranian-Americans hostage. These mullahs are just thugs.
Their guys are caught red-handed supplying Al Qaeda and Mochtar Al-Sadr and they capture a bunch of professors. The end of the Iranian regime can come none too soon.
Please let the bombing start now.
These people have been pushing for a war for the last two years by their words and deeds, I think they are going to get their wishes.
Iran wants the attention of a civilized country like the U.S. otherwise it would be completely ignored because on the list of the world’s important nations Iran is on the bottom.
Without oil and terrorism Iran would be of interest only to National Geographic.
I don't think NG would be interested, either.
No topless native girls to photograph....
So true. This is what state-sponsored terrorism hinges upon.
I agree - it’s a third world Islamic pit that knows it cannot compete or command respect on ordinary terms, and instead has decided that the way to go is the usual Islamic route, terrorizing and destroying developed societies within its reach.
Modern technology and oil money unfortunately have enabled its reach to grow much longer. Once upon a time, Islamic pirates could be avoided if one stayed away from the Mediterranean; now Islamic pirate nations are essentially capable of going after civilized people anywhere they live. Their objective is to capture and enslave us all, and it would be nice if our leaders would be honest about this and take some steps to prevent it before it happens, rather than try to figure out what to do when it’s too late and the major attack is underway.
Let me see...maybe if I spit enough, and get red enough in the face, the Americans will fear me enough to meekly let my terrorist diplomats go.
We should send the Iranian leader, “stinky” as he doesn’t like to be called, a picture of Saddam in his underwear.
Sort like waking up with a horse head in your bed.
“Gee, wonder what theyd do if we took over one of their embassies.”
Better idea: Write the Declaration of War in permanent marker across the warheads we use to turn it into a smoking crater...
These people have been pushing for a war for the last two years
Good question. If someone says they are going to kill me and has the means and the will to carry out that threat I am going to put a premptive strike on his butt.
