We all saw this coming...with the popularity and acceptance in popular culture and the media of treating smokers as vermin, no "solution" to the smoking issue will ever be acceptable to the antismoking and enviro Nazis other than a total ban on all tobacco products, sales and usage. Outdoor heaters will also be banned, but there will always be 'some' villain, as far as these pressure groups are concerned....a total victory would put them out of (a very lucrative) business.
Earlier this year the garden chain Wyevale stopped selling patio heaters after pressure from environmental campaigners
I suppose that if I were the owner of Wyevale's and woke up one morning to find my beloved pet decapitated on my front lawn with a note attached:" Your family is next! Stop selling outdoor heaters!" I would probably feel that it's a whole lot easier to drop one out of thousands of products that I carry.

you have got to be kidding me? Some more junk science about global warming.

I'll say it and post it for the 23rd out of 2,120,000 times (or until normal non smoking fellow citizens get it, whichever comes first). INCREASING THE NUMBER OF SMOKE FREE ENVIRONMENTS is not designed to protect anyone from harmless drifting tobacco smoke...It's designed to accomplish the goal of DECREASING PUBLIC TOLERANCE FOR TOBACCO USE as per the 1993 ASSIST study. We are all, smokers and non smokers alike, just Guineau Pigs in a social engineering experiment.

They want heaters, and in the meantime sit in fair weather under umbrellas. Could there be a solar solution?

It must be noted over and over again.....beer is a major source of carbon dioxide. All the gas that fizzes the beer is emitted to the atmosphere directly or after passing through the drinker.
To save the planet, beer ( and coke) must be banned. The heater emissions are trivial nonsense in comparison to the beer.

With a single heater releasing almost four tons of greenhouse gases a year, the patio heaters installed in Scotland produced up to 10,000 tons of carbon dioxide in their first year, the company said.My BS meter just pegged, before it broke.
Can someone please explain how one heater can produce 8000 pounds of CO2 in one year?
Don't be bashful with the full explanations, I am searching for my high school chemistry book as we speak.
What do those things use, anyway? Propane? LNG? Butane?

Once pot is legalized these enviroweenies would be falling all over themselves to overturn these smoking bans. This CO2 hysteria has to be pot induced paranoia.

Wow. I guess all of us that use propane gas grills will be targeted next by the Enviro-Wackos. I’d better switch back to charcoal, lest I wake up to find the cat on the spit one morning soon. *ROLLEYES*
It’s official! I’m only “one puff away” from starting to smoke, just for the PRINCIPLE of this stupidity.
Actually, my birthday is in July and I always purchase a nice lady-like cigar to smoke in celebration of another successful trip around the sun. I’ll have many more reasons to light up this year! :)

And burning kerosene, I think, the smoke they emit probably IS hazardous to peoples’ health, unlike the SHS scam. Save me from a liberal trying to fix a ‘problem’.
