Getting Senator Kennedys OK
(From The Washington Times 06/07/07)
Often lost in the big picture coverage of major legislative issues like the now-troubled Bush-Kennedy immigration bill are the little moments that say everything about how Washington works. Theyre the little moments that your legislators dont want you to know about and figure will never make it back home through the media.
But Stephen Dinan, our excellent national political reporter who has led the way for months on coverage of immigration legislation, captured this priceless moment in his story this morning as the supporters of the bill struggled to keep it together.
The late-night vote was on an amendment [by SC Republican Senator Jim DeMint] that would require illegal aliens who get legal status to have a minimum level of health insurance. Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat who is the chambers most liberal member, was not surprisingly opposed.
Writes Mr. Dinan: Republican Sens. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and John McCain of Arizona both went to check with Mr. Kennedy before casting their votes to match his. Soon after, (Arizona Republican Sen. Jon) Kyl also switched his vote to match Mr. Kennedys. The amendment was defeated.
All three of these Republicans proudly claim to be conservatives. Strange bedfellows indeed.

Awesome!
I found this:
“You are famous in the way Liberace was famous, or for a more recent example, Anderson Cooper. To the majority of South Carolinians, you are an embarrassment.”
LOL
Lindsay'll be gone in '08. ....from the Senate, that is.
I’m wondering what DeMint will do if a serious conservative challenger to Graham emerges in the SC primary. Such was the case in Pennsylvania in 2004 when Specter was opposed by conservative Pat Toomey in the primary. Santorum endorsed Specter who narrowly defeated Toomey. Specter was in no position to return the favor for Santorum in 08 and “wake up granfather clock” Casey now darkens the halls of congress. Will DeMint remain party loyal to Graham or hold fast to conservative principles?
I think it is awesome too! I am not computer savy and don’t know how to start a blog. Sure wish some Florida Freeper would start a “Tell Mel” blog! The H*** With Mel is really more my feeling, but I just need to get rid of the anger I have for the RINOS! I now am coming to realize that President Bush is also a RINO. So disappointed!!!
I Like Ike.
Take the Pledge: "I pledge to never, ever vote for anyone, for any office, who votes in favor of the Mexican Invasion Surrender Bill."
He will be with you as soon as he gets it cleared with ted.
Please DUMP this pansy Graham!!!
Who is likely to challenge Graham in a primary contest?
You are famous in the way Liberace was famous, or for a more recent example, Anderson Cooper. The obvious attempt to imply that Graham is gay is unfortunate, unnecessary and irrelevant. Graham's sexual preference (whatever that may be) has nothing to do with why he is at odds with his constituents -- unless they're suggesting a menage a trois with Teddy, John and Lindsey ....
Starting a blog is very easy. Go to blog.com. In three easy steps, you’ll have a blog (if you want).
I take it you’re from Florida. You’ve got Martinez helping to push this immigration scam but my senator is the face of evil himself, Fat Ted.
Excellent. This needs to be done with every traitor who sided with Kennedy’s immigration bill.
Graham is in cahoots with Senator Fatso from the Bay State. I call on Carolinians to dump him at the next election!
I feel your pain. This amnesty bill is unreal, and I was especially horrified when the Cornyn amendment was shot down. Amnesty angers the vast majority of the voters who put these RINOs into office, but they don't seem to care.
I get angrier every time I see that photo.
