The immigration bill is certainly not dead. It’s in surgery. The White House and both parties in the Senate want some kind of immigration bill before ‘08, and they’ll carve it into something that can win enough votes to pass.

now they might try and pass it piece by piece.

IE The Anchor Baby “Dream Act” to fund anchor baby serial immigration via the public schools.

(aka citizens kicked out of college for illegal aliens act)

No, the immigratin bill is dead until after the 2008 election. Too many voters-both Republican and Democrat (if you don’t believe me check out Democratic Underground)- oppose this bill.

Most likely, the pols will try again after the elections. Even if the Senate had voted on this bill, I am not certain that the Houe would have passed it. They always have re-election worries. This was a bad bill, and I am glad it died.
