Prank Targets Muslim Student (AZ)

PHOENIX -- A Gilbert junior high school was put on lockdown last Thursday following a bad joke targeting a Muslim student.

Mustafa Abdul Razzaq is a seventh-grader at Mesquite Junior High School. At 13, he's already been accused of being a terrorist.

"They call me 'terrorist' and they say, like, my dad's bin Laden," Mustafa said. "They" are his classmates at Mesquite.

On the last day of class, Mustafa found himself the victim of a cruel prank. A classmate wrote a bomb threat in someone else's yearbook and signed it with Mustafa's name.

"I confronted him. I told him not to write this stuff. 'You need to stop. You're going to get yourself in deep trouble,'" Mustafa said.

On Thursday, the school was placed on lockdown while Mustafa was interrogated by police.

Officials let him go when his classmates admitted the threat was a joke.

"Even the first time, it wasn't even a joke," Mustafa said.

"What happened to my son is not fair," Mustafa's mother said. "I think it is not a joke, like they say in the police report."

Police submitted charges of intimidating and threatening to juvenile authorities. A prosecutor will decide if the prank was a hate crime.

The Razzaq family said they blame the school for not stopping the taunting sooner. They said they've complained numerous times to school administrators.

"The kids would have learned not to say that," Mustafa said.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations hopes what happened to Mustafa can be a lesson for everyone.

"Muslims are your fellow Americans and they are not terrorists," said Mohammed AbuHannoud, of the CAIR.

CBS 5 tried contacting district officials but received no response.

The Razzaqs said they are considering legal action against the school and will not send their son back there next year.

I don't know ... have you tried taking an ad out in the local newspaper denouncing the maniacal Muslim behavior all over the world and signed your names to it?

Hm... I might think about what I can learn by this "lesson". But I already know one thing: CAIR is a terrorist orgainsation.

Tell that to the families of the 3000 that were MURDERED by your fellow slimes on 911!

Fair this, pack your bags back to the pit of slime that spawned muuuhhHamhed (Pigs be inseminating her)! Untill your "religion" retracts its 1400 year old declaration of WAR, WAR there shall BE!

This could be treated as what it was,a kid who didn’t care or worry about political correctness OR it could be blown way out of proportion for the sake of political correctness, let’s guess which one happens !!!

Writing a bomb threat and signing someone else’s name to it isn’t a prank - it’s a false accusation. Obviously someone reported it (another student?), since he was held and interrogated by the police...

In that instance, it would be an attempt to falsely charge him with a crime - and THAT is considered to be a crime.

Whether he’s Muslim, Jewish or Christian, it would still be wrong to write a bomb threat, sign his name to it, and attempt to get him arrested. That’s why I homeschool - at least MY boy will know it is wrong to be an a**hole, no matter what religion you suscribe to...

Vote Democrat? Gee, I think maybe not. Let me count the ways:

-I voted for Ronald Reagan in my first election
-I’ve been at FreeRepublic SIX YEARS longer than you have,
-I organized conservative protests in Texas for the 2000 election
-I actively protested on behalf of prolife causes in Florida
-I went on a fourteen day hunger strike on behalf of Terri Schiavo
-I sent my daughter off to Iraq to fight in the War on Terror

AND

-I actively support the Troops with my packages and prayers.

Lord, it’s hard to be humble, but I’m doing the best that I can...

Yes, but only because of my greatest claim to fame - in 1976, when I was thirteen, I campaigned for Ronald Reagan at my Junior High School.

You may also have one of my bronzed tears I cried from when he lost the nomination that year...

I don’t want your bronzed tear dandelion, nor do I want the head of the kid who pulled this joke. Sometimes we’ve got to let kids screw up and not send em to prison for it. This is a crazy time in history and I’m not throwing a kid to the wolves for a dumb joke !!!
