Amnesty for 12-20+million illegals is about the last thing going that GW can use as his legacy.

The WoT sort of went south.
The War in Iraq sort of went south.
GW even had to call in a special War Czar for those.

The big Social Security push at the start of his 2nd term quickly foundered.

There isn’t much left except what he can push to further the one-world global vision of GHWB - Amnesty for illegals, NAU, SPP, TransHighway.

Next year, both parties will be too busy with primaries and conventions and the general election to do much business, so GW needs to finalize his legacy this year.

And Amnesty for Illegals is all he’s got.

GW could leave office with as little of a legacy as Jimmy Carter had. The difference is that GW had 8 years and Carter only had 4.

At least GW did make two seemingly good Supreme Court nominations. But even with those, he only gets half credit for the Alito nomination, after the Miers fiasco. Of course, if he does have another SC nomination before he leaves office, he could easily neutralize the previous appointments by placating the Dems and nominating a ‘moderate’ [that is ‘liberal’ in polito-speak] that Senator Reid and Company would agree to.

BUSH ON AMNESTY
Amnesty is forgiveness for being here without any penalties -- that's what amnesty is. I oppose it. The authors -- many of the authors of this bill oppose it. This bill is not an amnesty bill. If you want to scare the American people, what you say is, the bill is an amnesty bill. It's not an amnesty bill. That's empty political rhetoric, trying to frighten our fellow citizens. People in Congress need the courage to go back to their districts and explain exactly what this bill is all about, in order to put comprehensive immigration reform in place.

Let me explain how it works. Under the bill, those who want to stay in our country who have been here can apply for a Z visa. At some point in time, those who are coming to work will get temporary work visas. Those who have been here already can apply for a Z visa. To receive the visa, illegal workers must admit they violated the law and pay a meaningful penalty, pass a strict background check, hold a job, maintain a clean record, and eventually earn English -- learn English. That's how it works.

Like most of what W is saying, this is nothing but rhetoric to appease an angry base. This is amnesty because if a ZVISA is not obtained, a penalty is not paid, or any other of the so-called conditions are not met, THERE ARE NO CONSEQUENCES. The illegal will stay.

George, stop worrying about how much cheap labor that you can procure from Mexico. Turn your attention instead to winning in Iraq and killing the enemy instead of exchanging pleasantries with the henchmen in Iran who are murdering our soldiers.

Exactly which portion of the U.S. Constitution are you and America’s Congress upholding with this illegal DEAL?

The POTUS and the Congress stopped paying attention to the Constitution in about 1861 or so.....didn't you get the memo?

Remember, they deliberately put a provision in that Border Fence bill last year that gave the top brass at the DHS the discretionary power to spend funds that were supposedly earmarked for fence construction on other measures.

The word got out about that provision and it had a devastating effect for a bunch of Republicans in Congressional races.

After the senate rejected Senator Coleman’s amendment to outlaw ‘sanctuary cities’, can there be any doubt that the gov’t is not serious about enforcement?

Bush has negative credibility on this issue. Why even bother listening to him at this point?

Will we be a welcoming place, a place of law, that renews our spirit by giving people a chance to succeed?

Good question Mr. President.......will we indeed.

>>bush has decided that we (the base) no longer matter.<<

We never did. We are racists (anti-immigration), sexists (anti-Harriet Miers) and vigiantes (Minutemen). And now, because we are against his immigration bill, we are AGAINST doing what’s right for America.

This person is every bit as arrogant and condescending as either of the Clintons ever were.

And what he is trying to do will destroy our country quicker than anything the Clintons ever dreamed of.

>>As a result of a recent Senate amendment, they have to pay back taxes if they haven’t paid taxes, too.

I understand that was taken OUT of the Senate bill NOT added in...jeeshh! This guy must be getting BS tips from his brother Clinton.<<

BTW Bush insisted that there be no payment of back taxes in the first draft of the bill.

He is talking about amendment 1190, sponsored by McCain. Either Bush doesn’t understand it, or he is gambling that no one else will read it. It is despicably sleazy that they are trying push this serpentine POS throu so quickly!

NOTE!

1) The (former) illegal doesn’t have to pay taxes (or “make arrangements to pay”) until “status is adjusted” which has always meant “green card.” So, to the best of my understanding, if they don’t apply for a green card, they never have to pay back taxes.

2) There may be other loopholes that nobody except “special interest groups” know about yet.

Illegals: Representation Without Taxation

Citizens: Taxation Without Representation

The start of McCain’s Amendment:

SA 1190. Mr. MCCAIN (for himself, Mr. GRAHAM, Mr. BURR, and Mr. SPECTER) submitted an amendment intended to be proposed to amendment SA 1150 proposed by Mr. REID (for Mr. KENNEDY (for himself and Mr. SPECTER)) to the bill S. 1348, to provide for comprehensive immigration reform and for other purposes; as follows:

On page 292 redesignate paragraphs (3) as (4) and (4) as (5).

On page 292, between lines 33 and 34, insert the following:

``(3) PAYMENT OF INCOME TAXES.—

``(A) IN GENERAL.—Not later than the date on which status is adjusted under this section, the alien establishes the payment of any applicable Federal tax liability by establishing that—

``(i) no such tax liability exists;

``(ii) all outstanding liabilities have been paid; or

``(iii) the alien has entered into an agreement for payment of all outstanding liabilities with the Internal Revenue Service.

See previous post. I would like to tell Rush Limbaugh about this deceit, but that is hard when 20 million people are calling at once. Is anyone influential with major talk show hosts so we can get the info out? Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

“This past week my 17 year old son who works at a buffet restaurant chain was told he couldn’t be promoted from dish washing to bakery. Why? Because all the other bakery workers only speak Spanish, so they can’t train him.”

What is wrong with these restaurants that they would hire people who don’t speak English in the first place? Inability to speak English = probably didn’t go through the immigration process... duh. Beyond that, how are these employees supposed to communicate?

The frustration is maddening... Bush doesn’t want to punish businesses for engaging in illegal activity, so he just makes the activity legal instead? Insane!

“If you’re interested in securing the border, wouldn’t you rather have Border Patrol agents chasing down terrorists and gun runners and dope runners as opposed to people who are coming to do jobs Americans aren’t doing? A temporary worker plan, that is truly temporary, is going to make it easier for us to enforce the border. Border enforcement and having a rational worker plan go hand-in-hand. And that’s what the American people have got to understand.”

Nooooooooooo I wouldnt rather the BP just chase down terrorists etc..would you rather the police chase down terrorists than someone who breaks into your house in Crawford and stays?...

Those illegal aliens are criminals..why not chase them down and arrest them? and anyway they arent running they are right in our face..demanding freebies that Americans cant get...

And there’s no way I will “understand” laziness at closing the border..border enforcement stands alone it has nothi ng to do with “rational worker plans” no matter how temp you think it might be...

You need to understand that the American people do not wish to be betrayed by the people they sent to DC..

You need to understand that America is a Republic not a Dictatorship....

“We the People” are the owners of this nation...not the few traitors in DC...

Tricky location of those 2 .gifs

I tried a number of parameters on each

I wanted to emphasize the text on the Monopoly “Get Out Of Jail Free” card plus the “TIJUANA TAXI” lettering

I knew sometimes it would be partially covered - So I tried to make it “unveil” the text

Alternating the 2 when I recreate that (they do not always come out the same even using notes and exact paramters and delays!) could create a more humorous touch
