An Exclusive Guest Post From Duncan Hunter For Blogs For Bush And GOP Bloggers
GOP Bloggers ^ | March 27, 2007 | Duncan Hunter

Posted on 05/28/2007 11:13:02 AM PDT by rob21

I'd like to thank Matt Margolis for giving me the opportunity to talk to his readers at "Blogs for Bush" and "GOP Bloggers" about my candidacy. I am committed to reaching out to conservatives in the blogosphere and this is a great opportunity to do just that.

National Journal ranks me as the most conservative member of Congress running for the Presidency based on my lifetime voting record. So, I don't need to hire an army of consultants to turn me into a conservative. My record hasn't changed since I was swept into office by the Reagan Revolution 26 years ago. In fact, someone recently pointed out to me that I have more experience in Congress than the top three Democratic candidates combined.

I'm also a Vietnam veteran who served in the 173rd Airborne and 75th Army Rangers. I've been to Iraq five times, have a son who served two tours of duty in Iraq as a Marine, and Chaired of the House Armed Services Committee. So, I know what it will take to lead the country to victory in the war on terror.

That being said, homeland security begins at our nation's borders. Knowing who and what are entering our country is critical to our efforts to secure our communities and protect our families. Illegal immigration is a national security threat. If you're looking for a candidate who will build the wall on the Mexican border and will put a stop to illegal immigration, I'd encourage you to take a hard look at my candidacy. I built the border fence in San Diego and proved that it works. I wrote the Secure Fence Act to extend the San Diego fence 854 miles across California, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. It's now the law.

LOL at your comment. The thing is that Thompson doesn’t want to explain anything and is trying to coast through campaigning. When is he going to announce? When are we going to see this alleged greatness? I hear he doesn’t like to campaign so it’s already off to a great start!

Duncan Hunter is not just an image - he is the real deal.

I hope he can get some traction soon. Maybe after the next debate.

Yeah, but Fred Thompson is a movie star.

And Mitt has a better smile.

Hunter's only a better candidate on the substantive issues, not the ephemeral stuff that really matters. /sarc

“I hope he can get some traction soon. Maybe after the next debate.”

I heard Sean Hannity mention him again today on his show, and we can help him get his message out by writing editor’s letters and/or contributing to his campaign.
