I fear one of my two cats affected by the recall (Science Diet MD) is losing her battle. On March 16, she weighted 23lbs. Since the recall around that date, she has lost a ton of weight, and now is a little under 10lbs. The vet ran tests and she has a kidney infection. She still won't eat anything, not even tuna or catnip. I've been giving her IV fluids to keep her hydrated... I'm so worried about her. She will be 11 in August.

I'm so sorry. I hope she can rally and recover.

I hope your kitty improves. My heart breaks for the lost and ailing pets and their owners.

I've been making raw food for my two cats since early April, when Natural Balance had its first recall. The girls consumed some of the recalled NB food, but fortunately don't appear to have suffered any ill effects. The diet change has had its bumps, and they've both lost weight during the transition (and when they soundly rejected calves liver). I just hope we're stable now . . .

Keep up the IV! I had to do that for our big gray cat a few weeks ago, seen here seated with his girlfriend. After two weeks he was better. Contact your vet again and see if there is anything else they can do. She is a very very pretty cat!

So sorry for your cat - I’ll say a pet prayer for her - and with me being a dog man, that has to count for something with the Big Pet Owner upstairs.

This episode is yet another reason why I want Duncan Hunter to do well enough in the primaries to get the critical issue of China trade on the table for real.

Nice picture of your cat, BTW. If I may ask, what did you shoot it with?

What a sweet face. I am very sorry your kitty is sick ... she (and you) are in my prayers.

Purrs and head-bonks to her from my kitties.

TOO YOUNG to die. Are you giving her antibiotics? ‘Periactin’ is a good medicine that also really encourages eating (my cat gained alot) and also in emergencies, your vet can give your cat a ‘valium cocktail’ and that cat will gobble food for 30 seconds before your very eyes like a miracle which stimulates her appetite so you can start encouraging her to eat. Don’t give up.

What a beautiful kitty. Please keep up the fluids—they are VITAL to her recovery and it makes her feel SO much better. Do you know if it is chronic renal failure or for sure it is an infection or maybe pancreatitis? If it is chronic renal failure, you may want to see if she is becoming anemic. If so, get some methyl b12 (make sure it is methyl) and some form of vitamin with iron—maybe pet tinic or hi vite.

Also make sure she eats—cats can become deathly ill even if they only stop eating for a day or 2. If this happens, it is called fatty liver disease and it takes quite a while for them to recover. Syring feed if you have to until she is better and wanting to eat—it will take a while—don’t give up. Pancreatitis takes a while for recovery as well.

I have a sad update for my kitty...

I took her in this morning to check her weight and told the vet she was a little more perky, but was still vomiting and now wheezing and having a hard time breathing. They did an x-ray... and discovered she has lung cancer. So, until its 'time', she will be treated like the queen she is.

Please pray for my sweet baby girl, and that her pain is eased before she makes the trip to the Rainbow Bridge.
