Please check out Phsstpok’s EXCELLENT Sunday Talk Show PRE-Thread. It’s a great way to hear analysis on why the DBM picks the guests, what they’ll probably discuss, and other pertinent facts. Also, check out his blog!

Would love to see the C&D issue discussed but somehow, I doubt it will.

MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz.

FACE THE NATION (CBS): Sen. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb.

Looks like something Laura Ingraham would call another "McHagel morning".

Happy Mothers' Day to all mom here today.

Interesting to see McCain on MTP.

Last time he visited Tim, Tim was kinda rough on the golden boy. Golden boy found his former glow wasn’t actually gold after all; it sort of turned greenish with the MSM.

Thanks for the thread and

Sorry it is the same as last year but it sort of creeped up on me and I suddenly realised it was today as we have ours earlier in the year.

McCain. Hagel. Graham. Giuliani. The only glimmer of hope is McConnell. This looks like another snoozer of a Sunday morning for the GOP.

Can't the Republicans find anybody else to put up for an interview, or are they all in church?

Out of the gate, Russert hits McCain with a poll of those for and against the war.

McCain: The war after Shock & Awe was badly mismanaged. Not enough troops initially.

At the time, based on the information we had, it was good to take Hussein out.

McCain: I know based on my expertise what is best for this country.

McCain is opposed to the Iraqi government taking a 2 month vacation during the war.

[He doesn’t voice such concerns with the US Congress takes their frequent vacations. Speaking of which, one will probably be coming us in a couple of weeks — Memorial recess, followed by the Fourth of July recess, and then the Labor Day recess.]

Russert is being nice to McCain, so far.

[Timmy likes Johnny’s frequent use of the concepts ‘mismanaged’ and ‘badly mismanaged’.]

Russert infers from McCain’s position that US troops will be in Iraq for 10 years.

McCain responds that US troops have been in South Korea for 60 years.

Taking a plunge into the taboo topic...

FNC: Taped interview, opens with Giuliani discussing abortion. He appears very uncomfortable, glistening with perspiration, scratching his head. Would not answer Wallace's multiple inquiries, "Why do you personally oppose abortion?" When asked if he would try to change the Republican pro-life platform, Giuliani said, "I wouldn't mess with it."

When moving on to other subjects, Giuliani seems more at ease. Return from commercial break. Giuliani is powder dry, very composed. Moving on to 2nd amendment rights now.

Russert hit McCain with a quote McCain made about Somalia in 1993 that is counter to the position McCain takes on Iraq. Then, McCain supported the pull out from Somalia.

Russert is turning on McCain. Hitting McCain about increased security at a photo-op in central Baghdad. Locals said the security was abnormal and only increased because of the photo-op.

McCain defends the security, etc. Says they were there ‘for over an hour’. [Snicker. A whole hour, Senator?]

So is the DNC still trying to spin it propaganda about the Kansas tornado and Iraq or have they given it up as yet another Dean engineered PR disaster? Interesting bit of data that came to light during Katerina that proves the Gov of Kansas is either totally incompetent or knowingly lying. According to the Adj General of the Illinois Nat Guard during an interview on, I think Hannity’s radio program, in Sept 2005, there exists an set of procedures under which a Gov who has NG troops on active duty can request NG troops from any of the other 50 states to step in to fill a need. The Gov also has the ability to appeal to the National Govt for immediate assistance from the US Military to response to an emergency.

The Gov of Kansas did NONE of those things. So either she is wholly incompetent to fill her self proclaimed role of “CIC Kansas National Guard” or she is knowingly lying about just why she dragged her feet in responding to the tornado damage.

So Sue and be damned DNC. You are caught in your own PR trap here. If you want to push this into the courts where you will only highly the hyper partisan hack behavior exhibited here or you demonstrate the Democrat Gov’s complete unfitness for her office. Either way it a Lose-Lose for the DNC

Good morning AB and everyone. Happy Mothers Day! Thank you for posting the thread and congratulations to last weeks winners, whoever they are.

I guess it has to happen but I’m already tired of the rehash of Rudy’s position on abortion. I think I know what it is and would rather more forward and get past it.
