You could have done the right thing and apologized for and corrected your remarks. Instead you take a page out of the Commie playbook and ignore the whopping lie you told and go on to a new accusation.
No lies told.
Up until the last few years, Mr. Romney was a thorough-going, mainstream liberal pro-abort. He was willing to curtail the extremes of the abortion license around the edges, but he supported the fundamental holding of Roe: access to legal abortion is a woman’s constitutional “right.”
He’s said publicly that he’s held this position - that abortion should be legal - since at least 1970.
In 1970, by the way, abortion was nearly completely illegal in most states, and even in most states with “liberal" abortion laws was still significantly restricted. Thus, by saying that he’s been a pro-abort since 1970, he’s saying that he wished to CHANGE the laws to permit greater legal access to abortion more generally.
Mr. Romney was [is? the jury’s still out, there] a pro-abort.
It would be better if he just kept his comments about the subject to: “I was a filthy pro-abort. I was wrong. Now, I’m pro-life.”
Without claiming to be “personally pro-life but...” or claiming that Ronald Reagan - who, in 1967, was as pro-life as most pro-lifers are today - was “pro-choice.”
Too bad you have such a difficult time dealing with the truth.
