We have big elections coming up next year, and Barb Stanton is an outspoken voice on the air who is now GONE.

One by one... they fall.

What I find amazing is that her comments were just a handful of words plucked out of a commentary.

If someone listened to everything WE said, and edited out the choice few, we’d be in the HOT seat too!

This firing is an abuse of power, pure and simple.

The internet and talk radio are slowly being put out-of-service.

Soon, will there be any place for OUR voice??

Never Forget: Election 2008 is just around the corner.

She insulted a local big wig.

That is why she is being fired.

Also, I find it amazing that insulting a bank
can get you fired!

Where are we? Communist China????

Like frogs in simmering water....

“Who in blazes is Barb Stanton?”
She was an actress and ranch mom in the `60s on a TV show, `The Big Valley’.
She married Ben Cartwright on the Ponderosa and they had a son, Hop Sing.

She was trying to get depositors to leave the bank.

That means she was trying to harm a local business.

seems to me that there really is a serious financial problem facing the nation if anyone can go on air and tell listeners to take their money out of a bank. Picture a slew of liberals doing this. The country could go down financially.

Oh my gosh. I'm shaking at the knees! Are we so fearful that we would sacrifice someone's career because they said something "scary" that would maybe make people take their money out of a bank??

I can put my money in any bank I want. I can take it out too. And if someone has information or an opinion that a business is on the wrong path, I should be able to hear about it.

Big Business is not Big Brother...at least I hope not!!

FREEDOM OF SPEECH it's in the constitution!!!

((How soon we forget!))

This is not a freedom of speech issue. The government took no action against her. Rather, her employer exercised its freedom of association rights by firing her lying arse. What’s the problem?

Can we fire “Journalists” for lying too? The newspapers would cease to exist if that were the rule.
So would CBS news, NBC news, ABC news, CNN news and....on and on.

She also was supporting this bank's policy of not doing business with illegal insurgent invaders 3 weeks ago or so. From her website:

NO ILLEGALS - NOW OR EVER
Friday 03-16-2007 8:16pm
This week we learned that Desert Community Bank does not give loans to illegals.  Ron Wilson, CEO stated that the bank requires a Social Security card and recognized ID - ie, drivers license - legal id card - green card.  Ron said that his bank would not practice in illegal activity.  That was music to my ears as this week we realized that BofA not only is giving credit cards to illegals they are not flying the American Flag!!!  Some are and more are not...this is almost beyond comprehension.

“I’m new here, but is this really “breaking news”?”

I’m not ‘new’ and I have the same question. never heard of this woman.

And her comments are nothing like Imus’s. Its not even close. She was factually wrong.

Imus intentionally bigotted, always was, always will be.

Out of context?

She made some serious errors in judgement. This nothing like the Imus situation.

That's exactly why I think Imus was targeted. They want the "Fairness Doctrine" back in with the undead ERA (Equal Rights Amendment) an ultimate goal.

In the Liberal world the only free speech allowed is that which they agree with. They keep getting bolder and bolder on this point.

I am an attorney and her words had serious issues.

She did not say, protest and pull you money.

She made specific statements regarding a banking institution designed to engender panic and a rush on the banks. The post great depression laws are made to stop that type of panicing.

Now if only we had the same rigorous standards to the fraud of global warminging/global climat change/global climate bad feelings.

Barb was as dumb as a box of rocks! She has made dumb clueless comments over the years and finally “dumb clueless commented” the wrong person/firm. She will not be missed as only three or four people tuned her in anyways. Her program was rated 26th in listeners. She considered herself as a “mover” but usually failed utterly. Radio 960 will be better without her.

I compared an unedited recording of the show segment, taken from the transmitter signal. The actual segment was about two minutes and forty three seconds in length. Someone, at the newspaper cut a total of about one minute and seventeen seconds out of it, leaving a carefully edited sound bite of about one minute and twenty six seconds that was used on the Fastrack Local News on the newspaper WEB site. It is quite clear that the newspaper cherry picked segments of the original audio to create a new context. In communication the context is just as important as the actual words. Whether it is from the same medium or converted from one medium to another, as in audio to print, the definition of Transcript is an accurate copy of the material. What they called a Transcript in the newspaper was not an accurate copy of the original material or even their edited sound bite. By calling it a Transcript they lied. Although some things may have been better left unsaid, IMO the segment, in context, should not of been a fireable offense. It would appear that many, if not most, of the people that formed their opinions based on the newspaper article, including possibly the financial institution and radio station officials, were IMO victimized by a Yellow Journalism Hit Piece that would have been better in the opinion section rather than masquerading as a news story.

Yellow Journalism would cease to exist.

Here is a definition for journalism, from the online Merriam-Webster dictionary: writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation

From the definition, a lying journalist is NOT a journalist
