Rubbish. It was Reagan who brought the socons into the that tent with his stances on the issues. Many were Democrats, such as Bill Bennett. No pandering to homos, no pandering to abortionists, no padering to feminists, no pandering to gun control advocates, no pandering to atheists. Wanted prayer returned to the classroom, as a matter of fact.
