There are otherwise-sane people who have a bias against Southern accents, especially after 8 years of GWB. I don’t like it, but them’s the breaks.

One, Shrillary does this with Southern and black audiences, not all audiences. Two, she’s playing against type — the GOP has a Southern image that may hurt it in certain years. The Rats have a Northeastern image that probably hurts them every year.
