A horrifying video showing a 17-year-old Kurdish girl being stoned to death for having a relationship with a Sunni Muslim boy has made its way onto the Web, drawing outrage and condemnation from international human rights groups.

The graphic video, posted on YouTube, shows Du’a Khalil Aswad, a member of a minority Kurdish religious group called Yezidi, being stoned and kicked in the streets of Bashika, a predominantly Kurdish town near the norther capital of Mosul.

The stoning happened last month but only came to light Thursday when the video was posted on YouTube.

Hi ST...

Still have a few boxes, but can’t unload them until the house is painted.

But we did sort out the garage and the pole barn today. Broke the new roll up door in the process. Dumb. Dumb. Dumb. My finger nails are all broken, my body aches and my feet are numb. Other than that I feel great. Hubby ordered his John Deere today as well. He’s been really excited about that.

How have you been?

Ooops, on the door... :-P

So, y’all got a John Deere, huh? Sounds like you’re really getting set up for business.

That reminds me of a couple of twins I used to date a very long time ago. They were identical twins so they said they could fool a lot of people (they claimed, even boyfriends). I didn’t think they could fool me, though, but just to be on the cautious side, I say I dated the twins, even though I think it was just one... :-0 ... but they lived on a large piece of property out in Oregon and their dad got a Caterpillar and boy he “went to town” with it. He bulldozed this and that. Made ponds, roads and what-have-you around his property. He went crazy for a while.

So, better watch your husband with that new John Deere..., he might be going crazy for a while... :-)

And, as far as me, well..., okay, as I contemplate the moving process, too — soon. I’ll be moving some stuff up from Dallas to Tulsa. And then many months later, some stuff from Portland to Tulsa. I’m expecting that Tulsa is going to be the final destination, unless something changes that I don’t know about.

Okee dokee, catch ya later

So, what it really boils down to is that stoning people or killing children is barbaric only when it’s done without the sanction of your God, is that where we are?

But at the same time, you can’t have it both ways - you can’t support “coddling” brutal dictators by looking the other way as they clamp down on opposition movements and also support getting rid of them in the name of democracy. At some level you have to accept that life on this planet isn’t always going to be sugar and roses and we have act in what’s the best interests of the United States.

* "Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets... Till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great..." Mat. 5:17-19

He didn't come to destroy the law or Prophets (age whatever you want to call it inclusive), it is good until Heaven and Earth pass away (age whatsoever inclusive), whoever (that does not say Jew only does it) breaks the least (all 600 as you claim) and teaches men that is ok to break them (as you are) will be called least in heaven.

Jesus after His resurrection, Jesus said:

* "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations... teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you." Mat. 28:19-20 And years later, "James and all the elders" said to Paul:

* "You see, brother, how many myriads of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all zealous for the law." Acts 21:20

Paul Used The Law

Paul teaches that the unrepentant world is still under the law, and that the law is designed to show guilt and to bring people to Christ:

* But we know that the law is good if one uses it lawfully, knowing this: that the law is not made for a righteous person, but for the lawless... and for sinners... for murderers... for sodomites, for kidnappers, for perjurers... 1 Tim. 1:8-10

All the world is under the law:

* Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God... Do we then make void the law through faith? Certainly not! On the contrary, we establish the law. Rom. 3:19, 31

* Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith has come, we are no longer under a tutor. Gal. 3:24-25

Christians who are untutored in the evangelistic role of the law oppose the foundation of the criminal code upon God's law.

You said — “So, what it really boils down to is that stoning people or killing children is barbaric only when it’s done without the sanction of your God, is that where we are?”

To make it clear so that there’s no misunderstanding, the “law” is clear and it is good and righteous — like Jesus affirms and like the Apostle Paul says and affirms, likewise.

There can never be any dispute with the law or with God, or even with Jesus or with the Apostle Paul (and the other writers of the Bible who were guided by God).

But, this is all done by Scripture and not by means of some Jeanne Dixon (like we have today) running around saying “God told me so!” This is not the means or the method by which we have the knowledge of what God has said. I’m very carefully qualifying this, because too many people run around saying “God told me...” which He never has. It’s only in the inspired and authoritative Scriptures themselves, that we have a “God told me...” and not through some guy walking around with a sign saying that God said to do this or that. That’s not how we know these things.

And furthermore, God did speak directly to those people in that day. The Bible affirms this in that He actually spoke out loud and audibly to several hundred thousand (more like several million) Jews at the mountain (where Moses was). God also spoke to His specifically chosen prophets of that day. And there are *no more prophets* in this day and age. That is over with, at this point in time. The “canon of Scripture” is closed, there are no further revelations — until such time as Jesus comes back again.

Thus, there are no more opportunities for any additions to Scripture or for a prophet of God to come out and say, “God said this...” or for someone to even know the mind of God outside of what is specifically written.

That means what you are saying bears *absolutely no significance* to today’s world and *certainly not* in the Age of Grace. It has no bearing at all.

At most, all you are saying is something totally theoretical like I was saying before, up above — like “Would you have sex with 10-years olds if you changed your mind about it?”

When Jesus Christ comes on this earth and then does set up the Kingdom of God, upon the earth over all the nations and is ruler over every nation and all peoples — then — we will see the fulfillment of all aspects of the law of God, those specifically given to the Jews and those for the rest of us gentiles, too.

Since God has no longer set it up so that He’s working through the Jews and national Israel — that means God is *now* working through Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, in this dispensation. We will not see this happening, as you’re trying to suggest.

And if someone *does try* to do that, then, yes, we must all cry out and stop it. That’s exactly what I’m doing.

I think you're going too far here in telling us what God can and cannot do. One would think God could communicate with us whenever he pleases. There's nothing to stop him from issuing new commands if he so desires. And certain interpretations of the Book of Revelation hold that there will be two prophets appearing on Earth to preach before the second coming.

As I said before, we know that ordering the killing of children is in your God's character. With all respect, your simple assurance that he would never do so again is insufficient. But if you prefer not to answer my question, so be it.

You said — “Paul teaches that the unrepentant world is still under the law, and that the law is designed to show guilt and to bring people to Christ:”

Yes he said we were under the law for purpose of imputing guilt, but not for the purposes of following it, unto salvatoin. He points out that the law actually increased the opportunity to sin, but that it was not the law that is bad, but sin within us that is. He said that the law was given to increase wrongdoing — to make sin all the more sinful, so that we would be driven to Jesus Christ — under *Grace* and *not of the law* — for salvation.

But in addition, mind you, not all the 600 commandments of the law were given to the Gentiles. Most of them were given to the Jews. There are those which are God’s universal law and which are given to all people and by which all guilt is imputed to the sinner. Those given to the Jews and for national Israel are not the laws which impute guilt upon the Gentiles (and neither upon the Jews of today, because they are not in national Israel any longer).

The command[s], given to national Israel, under the divinely granted sovereignty to stone people as a result of certain sins (which was *not* given to the Gentiles) is [are] valid — as long as divinely-sovereign Israel exists. But it doesn’t exist. God took away their divinely-granted sovereignty. When He does grant it again, it will once again exist.

And these commands were *not* given to the Gentiles. The commands to stone people for certain sins were *not ever* given to the Christians in the age of Grace. That’s not the law that Paul is talking about violating.

Paul is talking about the violation of God’s universal laws, the ones that we all know about and which apply to all (not the specific Jewish laws given to *only* the Jews). Even the Jews know that all of the 600 plus commandments that God gave them are *not* to apply to the Gentiles. I’m surprised that you don’t know that.

And Paul was talking about the result of the law (which is the universal law of God; not the specific laws given to “national and divinely-granted sovereign Israel) — and that result is death, which has been from the time of Adam. That death is the judgement of God. The violation of this (universal) law of God is not a resulting “stoning” to death, but the death which results from God’s judgement from the time of Adam.

And yes, Jesus said that all of the law will be fulfilled — and it surely will be — those to whom it was assigned — those to the Jews and those to the Gentiles. And since the sovereign and national Israel of the Bible does not exist today (but a secular Israel does exist today) — there is no one who has the capability *or* the “responsibility” of carrying out even a fraction of those laws which were given.

One thing that should make that *really obvious* is that the sacrifices cannot be made! That’s a law that the Jews are violating, according to what you say (but not really, because they do not have the ruling scepter — that has been taken away by God).

The time when all will be fulfilled scripturally, will be the time when Jesus returns and sets up the “Kingdom of God” here upon this earth in His Millennial Reign, in which He rules over all the nations and all the peoples of the world, from Jerusalem.

So, there is no “destroying” of the law and prophets. National Israel is not here; Jesus is not ruling or reigning on this earth (remember the Lord’s prayer), and we are in the Age of Grace, awaiting the return of Christ. Nothing has been destroyed (of the law or prophets; it’s all still there, awaiting the return of the King).

The reference you make about Paul saying that we do not void the law — he is not talking about the over 600 commandments given to the Jews, which don’t apply to the Gentiles. They never did apply to the Gentiles in any way, shape or form. And they will apply when God grants national Israel its sovereignty, which He has taken away in the meantime. The law he is talking about not voiding is the universal law of God, not the laws given to *national Israel*. And keep in mind that the “church” is not “Israel”.

.

Finally you said — “Christians who are untutored in the evangelistic role of the law oppose the foundation of the criminal code upon God’s law.”

And so-called Christians who would have Gentiles stoning people, pretending to know that this is a commandment given to the world to follow — obviously has no concept of how God has chosen to use the Jews to carry out His work on this earth. And since they have failed, He has taken away their sovereignty and scattered them for a time (during this Age of Grace, for which Jesus Christ came and died on the cross and the Holy Spirit works in the hearts of mankind).

And also such a person has no idea of the distinction between the church and national and divinely sovereign Israel. And they have no concept of the laws given to national and sovereign Israel, versus God’s universal laws applying to all of mankind. These kinds of people confuse national Israel with the church and contributes to all sorts of confusion in their theology.

I will be following *no false commandments* which someone purports to be from God, claiming that I’m supposed to be stoning someone in this Age of Grace. Sorry, you’re so whacked on this, it show that you’ve got no understanding of the Bible or how God works in different dispensations or how he has taken away the sovereignty of national Israel (the *only ones* to which these commands were given) and is now working through the Holy Spirit in the Age of Grace.

You can go barking at another tree, because I’m not going anywhere on this one...

Well, first of all, it strikes me as odd that a “former Christian” would be concerned at all about what God would do or say. In fact, it’s odd that a “former Christian” would be talking about anything to do with Christianity. Are you reconsidering your position now?

You said — “I think you’re going too far here in telling us what God can and cannot do. One would think God could communicate with us whenever he pleases. There’s nothing to stop him from issuing new commands if he so desires. And certain interpretations of the Book of Revelation hold that there will be two prophets appearing on Earth to preach before the second coming.”

I’ve got to mention once again, it’s extremely odd to find a “former Christian” actually (seemingly) believing in the two witnesses of Revelation — when — the entire book of Revelation is referred to as (in the first two verses) “1 The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave Him to show His servants—things which must shortly take place. And He sent and signified it by His angel to His servant John, 2 who bore witness to the word of God, and to the testimony of Jesus Christ, to all things that he saw.”

How can it be, that a “former Christian” is referring to a “revelation from Jesus Christ”???

But, let’s play that game, anyway (i.e, “One would think God could communicate with us whenever he pleases”) — you see..., I could kill someone if I chose to (if that pleased me). You could rob a bank if you chose to (if that pleased you). We all could become Islamic terrorists if we chose to. Now that we’re finished playing that game, let’s get down to what *has actually been chosen* — instead of “games of what if we chose this or that”. In other words, let’s get down to “what did please God” (not our “what ifs” which mean nothing).

God has chosen to communicate to us, in this day and age, in our Age of Grace, by means of His word, and through Jesus Christ the living Word. When He comes again, we will then receive whatever revelation He has, at that time, in the Kingdom Age, the Millennial reign of Christ, ruling and reigning from Jerusalem, seated on the Throne of David, over all the nations of the world (the U.S. included, by the way) and all the peoples of the world.

In regards to the two witnesses during the Tribulation, we see the following —

Revelation 11:3-10

3 And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth.”

4 These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands standing before the God of the earth.

5 And if anyone wants to harm them, fire proceeds from their mouth and devours their enemies. And if anyone wants to harm them, he must be killed in this manner.

6 These have power to shut heaven, so that no rain falls in the days of their prophecy; and they have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to strike the earth with all plagues, as often as they desire.

7 When they finish their testimony, the beast that ascends out of the bottomless pit will make war against them, overcome them, and kill them.

8 And their dead bodies will lie in the street of the great city which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

9 Then those from the peoples, tribes, tongues, and nations will see their dead bodies three-and-a-half days, and not allow their dead bodies to be put into graves.

10 And those who dwell on the earth will rejoice over them, make merry, and send gifts to one another, because these two prophets tormented those who dwell on the earth.

And so we have it from Revelation. You will find that God will *confirm* His word, through the two witnesses. They will not be giving new revelations to the world. They will be *confirming* God’s power to the world, however — which will then *endow* God’s existing and written revelation with the credibility that only God can have (i.e., endow the Word of God, even further, with more credibility than it already has now). It will be recognized as *the power of God* in confirming His own Word, which remains, all through the Tribulation time, and confirmed by his two special witnesses.

.

And to restate one of your comments — “There’s nothing to stop him from issuing new commands if he so desires.”

And there’s nothing to stop God from having the neighborhood mutt come up to your door and tell you in perfect English that your days are numbered as of tonight, and then have God kill you, tonight — is there?

But, even though there is nothing to stop God from doing that, I see nothing in Scripture to say that He is going to do that. However, if you’re concerned about what God may or may not do, outside of His written word, as He has already given to us and has “closed the canon” to this day — if you are concerned about that — I would be doubly concerned about that dog coming to you door tonight...

What the heck..., as long as we’re thinking and contemplating about what God “can” and “might” do — He might send a lightning bolt to burn down the place where you’re living. In fact, I would be more concerned about that dog and that lightning bolt from God, then I would be about what He might do with those two witnesses (being that you’re a former Christian).

.

And then, you said — “As I said before, we know that ordering the killing of children is in your God’s character. With all respect, your simple assurance that he would never do so again is insufficient. But if you prefer not to answer my question, so be it.”

And since we’re repeating ourselves.., I guess it’s time to repeat myself. The judgment has already been given for the death of everyone. The timing of it makes absolutely no difference. And so, that’s done — *death* is guaranteed as part of God’s judgement. Your time to go makes absolutely no difference.

It sounds like you’re complaining about the matter of the timing more than anything else. The real question to ask is “Why are we not all dead *already* from God’s judgement?”

The answer is that God has chosen to forebear those sins for a time, until the time of the end, at which point He will give out all the judgment that He has held back from the time of Adam until now.

You’re simply asking the question from the wrong side. You’re asking why they’re killed — when you should be asking why they were allowed to live any time at all, in the first place. Then you would have God’s perspective on the matter (with the right question).

By the way, as a follow-up, here are the 613 commandments — i.e., laws — which are to be followed. Remember, there are 613 of them, so be sure to follow them all, okay?

http://www.jewfaq.org/613.htm

A sample of them is as follows...

— Times and Seasons —

He might send a lightning bolt to burn down the place where you’re living. In fact, I would be more concerned about that dog and that lightning bolt from God, then I would be about what He might do with those two witnesses (being that you’re a former Christian).

Yes, yes, I'm hellbound, I know. Every conversation I have with a Christian believer inevitably gets to this. I'll send you a nice little postcard with a "I Wish You Were Here!" hologram in blazing letters on the front. I liked the bit about the talking dog, though, that was admittedly original.

It sounds like you’re complaining about the matter of the timing more than anything else. The real question to ask is “Why are we not all dead *already* from God’s judgement?”

So, we are all so lucky that he allowed us to be born at all that when he orders that children be killed, we are to just marvel at his kindness for allowing the children to live as long as they did? Wow. Ok, I think I get it now.

I really doubt you would be interested in reestablishing all the capital crimes listed in the Old Testament.

Adultery, kidnapping, premarital sex(for women, anyway), idolatry, sorcery, blasphemy, bestiality, rape, homosexuality, among others.

While I believe capital punishment should be more widely imposed than it is, few Americans would wish to reimpose all the capital crimes of the OT.

You said — “I liked the bit about the talking dog, though, that was admittedly original.”

Well, I was thinking about Balaam’s donkey (Numbers 22:28), but since we don’t have a lot of donkeys around, I thought a dog would do just as well. :-)

And you know, those dogs are like the “fly on the wall”, they know more about people than people themselves do.

.

When I said — “The real question to ask is “Why are we not all dead *already* from God’s judgement?”

You then replied — “So, we are all so lucky that he allowed us to be born at all that when he orders that children be killed, we are to just marvel at his kindness for allowing the children to live as long as they did? Wow. Ok, I think I get it now.”

The problem you have is that you would like it that God becomes like a man in His thinking. Instead of us coming up to where God is, you would like God to come to the level of depravity and thinking of where mankind is. And thus, you accuse God of not being enough *like you* — in His thinking, His actions and His judgements.

The Bible doesn’t bring God down to mankind’s level, but give us *His thinking* and *His character* — and contrasts that against ours. Your complaint is that you don’t like the perfect and righteous character of God — so — you “accuse Him” instead. Imagine that! Accusing the Creator God of the Universe, the maker of all things and of life. That is quite revealing.

So, instead of recognizing that God had made His judgement of Death upon everyone for sin which is in all, you are still trying to “claim” some measure of “righteousness” inherent somewhere inside of mankind (hence your “little kids” reference), and thus say to God, “You’re just not like us and you don’t think like us.”

And instead of recognizing that there has been extended to us — mercy, grace and forebearance, for thousands of years towards mankind, with God holding back a good measurement of His judgement, not handing it all out, immediately (as He says He will at a future time) — you want to cast God’s forebearance back in His face saying — “Big deal! Like I should even thank you for such a ridiculous and small thing that means absolutely nothing to me!”

You are definitely the epitome of the person who is described in the Bible as having rejected God.

Oh what the heck... I figured I might as well list all 613 of God’s laws, that you’re talking about, so everyone could see exactly what it was that you are referring to that we’re supposed to be following. Just for fun, I’ll list some intersting ones up front (with the complete list below them)...

Ok, doofus, you are the one that threw in the 613 laws not me. The 10 Commandments are what we are to follow, not the "Ritual Decalogue" from Exodus 34.

The gift that Moses offers was what I said.. you know the stone tablets.. two of them, carved through and through..

If you doubt that... read the below...

Matthew 19:16-19 (American Standard Version)

16 And behold, one came to him and said, Teacher, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?

17 And he said unto him, Why askest thou me concerning that which is good? One there is who is good: but if thou wouldest enter into life, keep the commandments.

18 He saith unto him, Which? And Jesus said, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,

19 Honor thy father and mother; and, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself.

Simply put, the ten commandments... of which.. Honor your mother and father is the basis of where Jesus backed his condemnation of those that overlooked this passage and it's punishment.

Commandment Jewish Orthodox Catholic / Protestant (except Lutheran),
I am the Lord your God 1 1 1 -
You shall have no other gods before me 2 1
You shall not make for yourself an idol 2 2
You shall not make wrongful use of the name of your God 3 3 2 3
Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy 4 4 3 4
Honor your parents 5 5 4 5
You shall not murder 6 6 5 6
You shall not commit adultery 7 7 6 7
You shall not steal 8 8 7 8
You shall not bear false witness 9 9 8 9
You shall not covet your neighbour's wife 10 10 9 10
You shall not covet your neighbour's house 10

I guess I should of read your weird post more closely and noticed how you stuck this into my original meaning earlier. Putting the "Ritual Decalogue" in as the gift that Moses offered is dishonest and you knew it well.
