They added melamine and cyanuric acid to the urine. The theory that both compounds were added to the contaminated pet food (rather than the cyanuric acid being a metabolic by-product produced by the melamine in the cats' systems) seems to be gaining ground, as per CNN's story up now:
The FDA is also admitting they don't know how long Chinese imports containing melamine have been in the US system, since adding it is apparently such a widespread practice in China. If the Menu Foods batches contained both cyanuric acid and melamine, it might explain why that particular wheat gluten was so toxic.
Thanks for posting that... yes, I think it explains a whole lot, and cats of all animals have the most sensitive kidneys, this is why people cannot let their cats fast like we can do with dogs — and, we know that the Chinese don’t have problems in reducing their population by whatever means possible... why would they care about us?
Anderson Cooper is a huge animal lover, I think I’ll start paying more attention to his program and see what else he digs up on this.
