So, when a thug commits a crime, he can just steal a car and do a high speed exit. The cops can’t chase him 'cause might become a high speed chase. Just let the scumbag make his exit. So we can have "chase free zones" to go with the "gun free zones." Brilliant idea.

For me it comes down to respect for law enforcement officers.

If someone makes a concious decision to run when told to stop I'm not too sure I wouldn't like to see the police SHOOT them then and there.

That would not happen too many times before a police officer's blue light, or verbal order to stop would get a LOT more respect and there would be many fewer chases.
