FEAR FACTOR WILL FEATURE PROMINENTLY IN GIULIANI'S CAMPAIGN
Yahoo News ^ | April 28, 2007 | Cynthia Tucker

So what sort of presidential campaign do you run if you're too liberal for conservatives, too Republican for Democrats, and you drag along a personal life too messy for moderates? Rudy Giuliani has just answered that question: He'll be counting on the fear factor.

Giuliani has become the first Republican presidential candidate to enthusiastically embrace the Karl Rove strategy of scaring voters into becoming supporters. Campaigning in New Hampshire last week, Giuliani declared that if a Democrat were to be elected president in 2008, he (or she) would "wave the white flag" in Iraq, and America would suffer "more losses."

Later, Giuliani told conservative talk-show host Sean Hannity that Democrats "do not seem to get the fact that there are people, terrorists in this world, really dangerous people that want to come here and kill us. That in fact they did come here and kill us twice, and they got away with it because we were on defense -- because we weren't alert enough to the dangers and risks."

Doesn’t Hannity still cling to Giuliani, for the most part? Last time I saw Hannity interview Giuliani, he seemed fairly (too) forgiving.

“FEAR FACTOR WILL FEATURE PROMINENTLY IN GIULIANI’S CAMPAIGN”

It seems to have worked here - a lot of the Giuliani supporters don’t seem to think any other possible GOP nominee has a chance. I think they’re selling the American public short.

We cannot afford to be afraid nor to flinch, yet he's going to attempt to use fear as a motivator?

I'm speechless.

I think this tactic by the Giuliani campaign is going to be seen for the cheap insult that it is.
It’s been overused.

Or Rudy could really believe it. And is not afraid to say so.

Liberals have always used fear as a campaign tactic. Republicans want to get us in a nuclear war. Republicans want to take away your social security check. Republicans want to deny you health care.

Nothing new here, just another liberal acting like a liberal.

First, I am not a Rudy man and I will admit that I didn’t bother to read the entire article.

However, I fail to see the point of the article. “Fear factor”, Rove bashing. Lets get real.

There should be a fear factor, as our future depends on us understanding that our enemies want all of us dead, and unlike Reid and his Traitorous crew—cowards all, the enemy is playing for keeps.

Of all things, 911 should have driven that point home, it did for a short time, and even though many Americans have lost their will to fight, the enemy sure hasn’t.

What Rudy says is absolutely correct - - we SHOULD be scared to death that a rat may take over as CiC. My problem is in overtly using fear as a primary campaign tactic. If Rudy is smart, he (and every other GOP candidate) should make the point clear that a rat Presidency would be altogether unsafe.

As Rush and many others have stated a zillion times, people need to have something to vote FOR, and expecting people to vote out of fear does not meet that criteria.

Regards,
LH

I can truly say I don’t know who I am going to vote for in the primary. However, a day doesn’t go by when I don’t see an anti-Giuliani post on this website. Maybe that’s good up to this point (just good political debate). I just hope it doesn’t continue if he ends up as our candidate. I’m really concerned, though, when our enemies in the media are being used. I mean really, Cynthia Tucker???

If Rooty is your nominee, I will work against him. Abortion supporting, gun-grabbing RINO’s are not gonna get my support. Not now, not never.

Cynthia Tucker has her agenda and its all about liberalism. Rudy Giuliani has his agenda and its mostly about about liberalism. Rudy says he will be tough in fighting the WOT. After a lifetime of support for liberal issues and liberal causes, I'd say Rudy`s credibility is in the toilet. He doesn't represent the issues important to conservatives. And he doesn't deserve our votes either.

Rudy will say whatever he has to and do whatever he has to in order to win the GOP nomination. He will lie through his teeth, obfuscate the facts, mislead voters, double talk conservatives and hoodwink as many people as he can in order to win. There is nothing that Rudy won't do, if it improves his chances of winning. Problem. Rudy ain't gonna win.

The GOP has better candidates then Rudy. A vote for Rudy is a vote for liberalism. No thanks.

There’s a difference between “fear” and “reality”. The writer is in deep denial of reality, and is using “blame others” to obfuscate.

So, does this mean Rudy is going to eat a lot of bugs and worms?

Rudy wants to run on 9/11 so let him. Hey, someone was going to do this before long anyway. I was in an arty mood earlier...
