South Koreans have mandatory military service for men over 18. It’s likely Cho learned his stuff there.
South Korea, what a great ally she is.
The Foreign Ministry wasting no time in playing the race victim card!
I guess they must be thinking about all the Arabs randomly attacked in the street by Americans after 9/11 - oh wait, that didn't happen!
HAHAHAHAHA!!!
So much for the left’s non-stereotypes! He’s Asian, he must be CHINESE! I try to tell my young children that not all asian people are Chinese, but they are but children. The media, well... maybe they are but children as well.
He’s 23 and has been here since 1992. When did he get his training?
Have they announced yet what mosque he attends?
Probably from the likes of these guys:
Va Tech has been doing a good job of clearing his name from their directory.

COMMENT:
You beat me to the same conclusion.
This country has let the liberals push their stupid “can’t we all just get along “ agenda for way to long.
It’s time for America to take back it’s borders and quit bowing at the alter of “America needs foreigners to survive” mentality.
I don’t want to hear another word on amnesty or any other give away US citizenship for free program by those who only have the almighty dollar as their god.
I wish that someone would ask Hincker about this statement he made earlier this week, concerning the General Assembly's defeat of a bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus :
Virginia Tech spokesman Larry Hincker was happy to hear the bill was defeated. "I'm sure the university community is appreciative of the General Assembly's actions because this will help parents, students, faculty and visitors feel safe on our campus."
Agreed. What or who gave the initial information that the shooter was a Chinese student on a visa?
A South Korean English major??? Nah, it doesn't pass the smell test.
A South Korean English major on a killing rampage in an engineering building??? You've got to be kidding.
My guess is that some low level clerk checking the University's records saw the student's college listed as ENG (abbreviation for ENGineering) and assumed it stood for ENGlish. They probably passed that mistake on to a university administrator/spokesman and then on to a reporter.
It'll be days before the MSM gets it straightened out, and by then the public will be too bamboozled to every get it right.
I know lots of South Korean guys who have been in the US forever, but going back to South Korea to complete their mandatory two years of service (often before college). The guy is 23, which is older than the usual age of 21-22 for a college senior.
If they don’t do the mandatory service, and then one day land in South Korea, they can be arrested for desertion.
WTF! Suspected??

You seem to be suggesting that South Korea itself is somehow at fault for this guy's spin-out. Where do guys like you come from?
The media can be characterized as nothing more than vultures.
LLS
Have you seen some of the movies that South Koreans are producing in South Korea? One film called “Welcome to Dongmakgol” makes it honorable for Koreans to kill American troops during the Korean War. I’m totally serious, you can probably Google the film and buy the DVD and watch it for yourself.
Maybe you should look into contemporary South Korean anti-Americanism before making personal attacks.
He moved to the U.S. when he was 8.
