I used to think that a person should be required to be a Veteran of our Armed Forces, preferably with combat experience, before being elected to high office. Having the ability to send our best and brightest to war surely should rest in the hands od someone who has been there, right?

I gave up that idea long ago thanks to kerry, murtha, hagle, webb and now mccloskey. There is a host of others.

It seems that to some, the uniform is just cheap, durable clothing with lots of pockets and a funky color scheme. clothing

Lifelong Republican, Marine veteran and former congressman Pete McCloskey has left the GOP and registered with the Democratic Party.

McCloskey says he is disgusted with the "succession of ethical scandals, congressmen taking bribes and abuse of power by both the Republican House leadership and the highest appointees of the White House."

Riiiiiiigt... he's disgusted with ethical scandals in the GOP so he jumps to the Democrat Party? LOLOLOL!!! Boy howdy, is he ever in for a rude awakening. Good move, you RINO idiot.

I don’t know why McCloskey was a Republican in the first place. It sounds to me he was a RINO. I think it’s great another RINO admitted he was in the wrong party and decided to become a Democrat. I wish every other RINO in the Republican party would follow his lead and do the same thing.

And he had no problem with Rep. Jefferson and the $90k bribe in his fridge or the numerous scandals of the Clinton's which makes the "scandals" of the Bush Administration seem amateurish?!

,

Then South Vietnam President THIEU described as "OBSCENE" Rep. McCLOSKY's staged trip to his country just before the end of the Vietnam War

A trip that was obviously made with Rep. McCLOSKY's mind already made up to torpedo a Free country's fight for its own Freedom.

For, ...the Enemy is now Within ...and always has been. .

The issue then had little to do with "limited government," nor does it now (imo).

The issue had everything to do with limited government then and still does today. I believe abortion is wrong but I don't believe that I have the right to dictate to a woman that she must bear a child against her will. As I said, that goes against the Constitution and the Bible.

This guy must have been sniffing his own flatulence. For someone to leave the Republican Party citing corruption and go over to the Dhimmis is like dumping your Toyota because you say it gets lousy gas mileage only to buy a Hummer...

I guess he sure showed us though ;’}

Two words for you Congressman. William Jefferson: Good luck defending that corrupt dingbat, or that repugnant twerp Harry Reid, or that hypocrite Diane Feinstein. But, I suppose you'll slink back into being a wallflower no-name Congresscritter no one's ever heard of.

I’m no McCloskey fan, and I have no interest in putting Pombo on trial. We did enough of that when we threw him out of office.

Just ask yourself this: Why would thousands of Republicans, in a Republican stronghold district, nearly all of whom had supported Pombo solidly in several previous elections, suddenly stay home and let him get thrown out of office? It sure as heck wasn't McNerneys nonexistent campaign efforts.

I'm not a knee-jerk Republican, and I'm not going to vote for someone just because they tag an "R" onto the end of their name. I vote for conservatives. Pombo proved himself to be a corrupt opportunist, and nothing more. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

McNerney will lose his seat next year. We've already had some respectable Republicans express interest in the seat, and it's not a district that a Democrat can hold onto with any competition. McNerney has proven himself to be rather impotent since going to Washington, so most of us are willing to grumble and put up with the raging commie until then.

Get out and take your big tent with you. Small Government, Low Taxes, Strong Military, 2nd Amendment, the Right to Life, and a Regulated Border should be a pledge required to allow a person to run for office with an R next to your name.
