Boston: DEMAND YOUR DENNIS

Now that the I-Man won’t be down for breakfast, professionally speaking, there is a hole in the WTKK lineup. Go to the WTKK
website—see link below— and ask that WTKK move either
Michael Graham or Eagan and Braude into what had been the Imus slot and PICK UP DENNIS MILLER!

WTKK has run Westwood One shows in the past such as Imus
of course, O’Reilly, Monica Crowley, and the old Ron Insana
show. Picking up Dennis live or even tape delayed would be great.

http://wtkk.com/ContactUs/tabid/59/Default.aspx

Click on the tab that says Paula O’Connor, Prog Dir
(she used to produce Jerry Williams years ago)

Boston, DEMAND YOUR DENNIS!
I just did.

Howie live ping. If you're on the ping list you should have received Howie's Herald column earlier (got a lot of response).

CSPAN-2 Sunday, April 15 at 10:30 am and at 7:30 pm see Howie and Col. David Hunt (Ret.) talking about the Colonel's new book On the Hunt: How to Wake Up Washington and Win the War on Terror. Check your local cable listings for a channel in your area.

"Remember to join us at the Harp Friday and meet Dr John while you're there!"

I assume he means Dr John DeJung, not the New Orleans pianist!

All I’m hearing is that they’re going thru their options. See link above to make suggestions (the WTKK site)

Official Statement from Peter Smyth, President & CEO of Greater Media, Inc. & Phil Redo, VP & Market Manager of Greater Media Boston regarding termination of the Imus Show on WTKK in Boston:
We respect CBS’s decision and hope it will bring some closure to everyone who was hurt by Imus’s remarks.

Don Imus has been a part of WTKK since our launch in 1999 and has many fans. We want to acknowledge his many positive contributions to radio and charitable causes.

We have not made any decision about a replacement for Imus and will be reviewing all our options in the coming weeks.

>>At the risk of sounding dumb

Don’t worry, you won’t sound dumb; from your name it sounds like you’re much more familiar with the western part of
the Commonwealth. Many of us from the Eastern side, for
example, might not know about Theodore’s on Worthington St.
in Springfield. Though I do because I’ve been there
(good BBQ place, blues music, etc! A must when I go to
Springfield and I assume the name refers to Theodore
Seuss “Dr Seuss” Geisel...)

Just out of curiosity, Howie kept talking this week about getting some money from Imus from a lawsuit. What exactly did Imus say about Howies wife? I seemed to have missed that.

You can hear Howie explain it by doing this:
look for the “Podzinger/RSS” on the left side of http://www.wrko.com

Look for the Chumpline for Howie’s show from yesterday.
He explains it at the start. I can do the same. Basically
Howie was kidding on air about Imus’ age, saying that “by the time Imus’ kid graduates from high school he’ll be dead”.
Mike Barnicle heard this and related it to Imus who said on
air something about Riddick Bowe having an affair with Mrs.
Carr, only in real graphic terms.

Since Mrs. Carr is not a public figure, Howie had a case for libel. He got Alan Dershowitz to represent his wife and
they settled out of court for an amount of money Howie
cannot reveal other than to say that it earned him enough to get a condo in Florida.

From Scott Fybush’s North East Radio Watch, Aug 20 1998:

“Carr, meantime, is embroiled in a nasty shouting match with Don Imus. It started when Carr began poking fun at Imus’ age, and escalated when Imus accused Carr’s wife, Kathy, of having an affair with boxer Riddick Bowe. Now Kathy Carr has hired publicity-shy lawyer Alan Dershowitz to file a libel suit...”

Don Imus taken out by a liberal watchdog group...? Brought low by “Media Matters for America” (via WSJ...?)

by Brian Maloney
Fresh from their “victory” over supposedly “right- wing” host Don Imus, Media Matters For America has unveiled its next targets, with a list of successful conservative talkers making the cut.

Never mind that Imus was a John Kerry- supporting leftist and that the others are not guilty of saying anything close to what the I-Man got away with for ages. These guys are out for blood and until Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Sean Hannity and others are off the air, they aren’t going to stop.

While they might mask their true intentions with subdued language calling for a “broader conversation” concerning these hosts, the partisan goals of Media Matters couldn’t be any more clear.

To David Brock & Friends, the Imus sacking will serve as a springboard to fulfulling their entire agenda, one that would sweep opposing views off of the face of the planet.

Take a look

It’s not just Imus

On April 11, NBC News announced that it was dropping MSNBC’s simulcast of Imus in the Morning in the wake of the controversy that erupted over host Don Imus’ reference to the Rutgers University women’s basketball team as “nappy-headed hos.” The following day, CBS president and CEO Leslie Moonves announced that CBS has fired Imus and would cease broadcasting his radio show.

But as Media Matters for America has extensively documented, bigotry and hate speech targeting, among other characteristics, race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ethnicity continue to permeate the airwaves through personalities such as Glenn Beck, Neal Boortz, Rush Limbaugh, Bill O’Reilly, Michael Savage, Michael Smerconish, and John Gibson. In wake of CBS Decision David Brock Calls for ‘Broader Conversation’ on bigotry and sexism in the media

The question is this: when partisan liberals at Media Matters are calling the shots over talk radio programming, do you really believe they will play fair?

Or, will they do a “splice- and- dice” routine with audio excerpts, taking words out of context in the hopes of bringing down hosts they don’t like?

Yes, there’s no question that Don Imus had been pushing his luck for ages. In fact, it’s amazing he wasn’t brought down years ago.

Now, however, we’re headed down a dangerous path, one where popular hosts may very well be yanked off the air simply because they disagree with David Brock, Arianna Huffington and the rest of the elitist left.

While talkers on the Media Matters hit list should feel a sense of pride over the way they’ve enraged the left, at the same time, they’d better keep closer tabs on their “progressive” enemies than ever before.

These guys play hardball!

Chris Core (WMAL) had the guy from MediaMatters.org on his show this morning (the guy Howie was just talking about). That was fascinating...I never knew there was a PRIVATE group policing the airwaves. But, by their own admission, they only patrol the Conservative stations...He said “that’s their job”.
