They’re accurate for a self-selected and limited poll that it is, in cyberspace. As to whether it means anything in “real life” that’s another story...

Probably not as an indicator of the general population, more so perhaps for Republican activists who dominate the primaries at the grassroots level.

I suspect polls like this are intended to "send a message" to the GOP establishment that the grassroots and the base aren't happy with Rudy McRomney and want someone else. They may also be intended to send a message to (Fred) Thompson that there's a fertile market for him in the GOP primary season, if he'll throw his hat into the ring.
