Try Dick Van Pattens Natural Balance.

It's nothing but all natural ingredients. Our Pug, Pugsley, had some real digestive issues until we found out he had a wheat gluten allergy.

Fortunately we discovered that months ago and removed that product from his diet else he may well have been consuming one of these contaminated products.

Since we switched to Mr. Van Pattens products none of our dogs has had any digestive or skin issues to speak of. I can recommend it to you without reservation.

I don't think I've ever met a Cocker Spaniel,

Cockers are great dogs. Not too big, not too small, and they have wonderful dispositions. My old Cocker, Bear, was absolutely the smartest dog I'd ever seen. I tried to duplicate that by breeding him but apparently it skips a generation as Basha had all the sharp corners of a pound of wet liver.

But I loved the both of them dearly as you can tell.

Cockers are bred for birding; upland game like pheasant and quail. They like a lot of exercise. They're also unbelievably loyal and great if you have children.

There are two recognized breeds, the American and the English Cocker. Americans tend to be larger and stronger, albeit from my experience they're also goofier. That's not altogether a bad thing.

If you're in the market for a pure breed, you could do a lot worse than an ASCOB Cocker Spaniel.

The Natural Balance is a little high in Copper and Cockers are a breed that is currently affected by copper toxosis, people don’t know if their dog is one until they have liver failure, so better safe than sorry and feed a diet from one of the high quality, lower copper foods available... I know not everyone is going to feed raw as I do, but there is some excellent grain-free kibbles available now.. (Raw instinct, Natures Logic is two that are good)

I tried to duplicate that by breeding him

This is commonly done, but as you now know, it is wrong. The best shot at duplicating a beloved dog is by repeating the breeding of that dog's parents (the breeding that produced the beloved dog). But even then, genetics are such a roll of the dice, you never get a very good "duplicate". You can get close, but it's like winning two lotteries in a row to get a close duplicate.

My cats love it too. If you buy dry pet food, be sure MEAT is listed as the first ingredient. Dogs and cats after all are carnivores.
