NEW YORK -- Don Imus will be punished for his controversial comments about the Rutgers women's basketball team.

NBC News has decided to suspend him, allowing finish the week on MSNBC, but suspend the simulcast of his radio show for the two weeks after that. CBS Radio also said it would suspend Imus for the same period.

NBC News President Steve Capus released a statement:

"Beginning Monday, April 16, MSNBC will suspend simulcasting the syndicated 'Imus in the Morning' radio program for two weeks. This comes after careful consideration in the days since his racist, abhorrent comments were made."

Sharpton is trying to extract as much mileage out of this as possible. Look, I keep telling you racism is alive and well in this country .

He gets Imus on his show to create a big circus and STILL calls for his firing ? What an a**hole.

It’s called a two week vacation. Perfect timing for the Caribbean.

And yet Howard Stern, who I once heard ask if “black chicks smell like watermelon down there” (yes,I heard him say that),continues on his merry $50 million a year way.

I’m still trying to figure out exactly when it was that Sharpton came to be considered legit. Maybe when he turned in his track suits for Brooks Brothers suits?

Maybe Imus can get a job announcing Rutgers women’s basketball games.

MSNBC Booted Savage for not even something as bad as this.

A conservative would have been fired. A loose cannon gets two-weeks probation. A liberal would have gotten off with a “sorry if I offended anyone” apology.

I don't like Imus so I naturally think this is pretty funny.

Imus thought he was immune since he is a card-carrying liberal.

Really makes us wonder! Go to the website stoprosie.com, there is a petition you can sign there. She needs some serious repercussions (that’s an understatement). The website started last week, I think, it’s up to over 33,000 signatures.

Something had to be done so those dweeb Democratic Senators he interviewed could continue to appear on his show.

“Imus thought he was immune since he is a card-carrying liberal.” Don’t they all!! Can you imagine if a conservative Republican had said this!! The fall-out would be worse than this.

What nonsense. Imus insults everyone. And if he’s so racist, why was he campaigning for Harold Ford? (Meantime, where is Ford explaining that Imus isn’t racist?)
And isn’t the word “ho” in almost every rap act?

I don’t like a lot of what Imus says about Bush and his admin. I turn him off instead of making a national issue of it.

I heard this being discussed on a black-oriented radio program this afternoon. While they were denouncing Imus — as well they should — one of the guys used the terms “honky” and “cracker”. Is anyone going to call him on that, I wonder.

Imus went after David Gregory the other day. Insinuating that the ratings were down because of Gregory!

Maybe the station had enough of Imus for now!

Since I consider sharpton and imus the perfect pair of reprobates, I am enjoying this immensely. They deserve each other.

While imus was arguing with sharpton this afternoon I swear Imus began channeling his inner negro.

Aren't off buttons wonderful? I think just about every radio, computer, Ipod, and whatever else one could listen to this Idiot with has an off button.

It's the ON buttons that I seldom use.
