Johnny come lately me thinks....this is like the Toons' position on some of those rap videos back when he was first camgaigning....say just enough to endear yourself to the white voters and the law and order crowd....

I view this as typical Dim politics. The black candidate, Obama, can call for this investigation trying to broaden his base while the white candidates, Clinton and Edwards, don't dare for fear of alienating the black vote they will need. Clever on Obama's part, but of course this would also give the AG cover to conduct such an investigation without being accused of only doing so because the defendants are white.

He could endear himself to me if he started investigations against Fitzgerald and Ronnie Earle. Both of these men have gone way beyond any semblance of fairness. Both are making political statements with their jobs.

I am no fan of Obama, but is there any position he could have taken on the Duke case that wouldn't make him viewed with cynicism ?
