"It is designed to support the equivalent of 72 Boeing jets."

That's nice, but how was it built?

Did you see the construction photos that I posted here at post # 30?  If the pictures aren't loading correctly, try refreshing your browser a couple of times or perhaps clicking on the direct link.

Looks skeery. You go first.

I appreciate your offer, but I think that I'll pass as well.  Stoats are ground animals and we don't do well with heights   :-)

Who cleans the bottom of the glass?

I remember seeing plans for this a couple of years ago, and thinking “This is exactly one of those really cool things they always draw up plans for and never actually build.”

I’m glad I was wrong. It looks really intense.

Looks like BASE jumpers have something new to play with!

In that case, I'm sure that the Arizona State Police (or Tribal Police) will be delighted to build a stylish police station down in the bottom of the Canyon below the Skywalk, perhaps incorporating a giant funnel to catch the jumpers and feed them directly into the holding cells   :-)

Ha! You and me, both.

I love to fly but watching a movie with people hanging from a building makes me sweat.

I could never walk out onto this thing. Glass floor?

I'm not afraid of heights, but I have to say..

Not this boy!

My wife almost passed out on the Durango-Silverton Railroad, can't even imagine her on this.

I want the Depends Franchise at the entrance!

Think how many people will have heart attacks when little kids throw tantrums, jumping up and down.

I bought one of the NPS/NF/BLM "get in any park" cards, for about $80 bucks. Avoids that part of the nastiness. Years ago, one could, if they were so inclined, to enter federal areas like the park system at night and avoid the entrance fees (sorta kinda).

I'm guessing that it will either be a guy at the bottom of the canyon with a squeegee on a REALLY long stick, or somebody will be suspended underneath by ropes attached to either side of the horseshoe.

That would be a heck of a job though; something you'd want to be sure to put on your resume if you wanted to do more work on high structures   :-)

Yep ... you just walk out there on a knife edge ridge, more than a mile above the salt flats. It's a loooooooooooong way down.

Beautiful view, and a bit less disconcerting than standing on a glass floor, 4,000 feet directly above the Colorado river :-)

for as long of a drop as that is.. would that structure start you out far enough from the side of the cliff to avoid a splat?

Ever been there? I felt like the wind was going to blow me right off that ridge ... I've never stood on a glass floor 4000 feet over anything (yet) ... If I ever get there, I'll be able to offer a comparison.

My wife has a better memory than I and she says it was $20 per car to get in last year.

Sorry, I didn't mean to imply that your overlook was unimpressive, I'm sure it is.
