Do you mean what is wrong with Republicans allowing RATS to continually beat up on them over phony issues? Our side is always playing defense. The only way to win is to go on offense. If it weren't for radio talk show hosts, like Rush, etc., we'd be in more trouble than we are.

Republicans are total wimps when it comes to fighting lying, coniving Democrats.

This issue of firing the 8 US Attorneys is as phony as the Scooter Libby fiasco but reality doesn't matter with the voters--it's perception.

the white house is rudderless, leaderless and clueless

George Bush's favorite saying the past six years has been:

"Hit me again, Democrats. Hit me again! Ooooh yeah. That new tone feels sooo good. Hit me again!!! Now, how bout a few punches from the Demo-network-reporters. Ahhhhh yeah. That's what I need. Here's my other cheek. Hit THAT one too. Aren't you all impressed at how much of a gentleman I am?? I'm riding above it all. Aint this fun?"

When a new smear comes along, FR (like DC), would rather dump the ones being smeared, than fight it out with the DNC/MSM.

Just what, exactly, has that pipsqueak Bert Gonzales done to ear the defense of freepers? I honestly can't think of one good thing the dude has done.

I say cut off 10% of the west coast (plus Alaska, and Hawaii) and 10% of the east coast... and then we will have a human Republic :D

I don't feel sorry for this shmuck. He can always get a job in Messsssico working for Calderon. Any selective law enforcement LEO has no right working for the US government.

When a new smear comes along, FR (like DC), would rather dump the ones being smeared, than fight it out with the DNC/MSM.

Four years ago I would have agreed with you.

But it is NOT the FR base who has been hiding under their desk sucking their political thumbs these past four years!

It's so-called President Bush (and most other Repub leaders in WashDC).

And lest you call ME a Bush basher, let me assure you I am one of those who not only worked on his campaign as a volunteer, I would have walked the earth barefoot over broken glass for him .... right up until this year.

NOW I see GWB in a different light. This 'turn-the-other-cheek crap has ruined his Presidency. This 'new tone' baloney has allowed the Demo-network-reporter-libs to stomp his agenda endlessly, due to the fact GWB refuses to stand up and fight back.

Aside from his ONE ISSUE, Iraq --- GWB has turned out to be a complete wimp.

And lest you be tempted to also add the War on Terror as one of his "good" issues, let me remind you how GWB has completely compitulated on the terrorist-wiretap issue, not to mention the Libby-Valerie Plame issue.

I'm afraid GWB has suffered a mental breakdown.

Oh, it's not outward. It's inward, in his soul, where all Presidents REALLY formulate their legacy.

I have been so loyal to this President and the GOP these past 15 years.

THAT's what really makes me ill in this whole matter.

Eventually nothing.

Which is why you are chopping of his head, and handing it to the commie vampires to put on their MSM/DNC pike, along side of Delay, Libby, Newt, Allan, Santorum, Hayworth, Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, Livingstone, Lott, Bush 41, Nixon, US Military, Iraq, Vietnam, Coulter, Rush...........

Next!

Cool, a mental-breakdown surely is grounds for impeachment.

Let's roll!

it appears that Bush can't catch a break,

Strong leaders make their own breaks.

Anyone who stands around "waiting to catch a break" is destined for failure.

Unfortunately, that has been Bush's mode of operandi the past five years.

I've got to agree with you on this DW. Bush allows the dems to trash him and he never hits back. He expects other Republicans and radio chatterboxes to cover for him. His WH will not go on offense or defense against the dems.

Bush's own inactivity in protecting his personal hind quarters is what is fueling these Republican defections. His willingness to be a doormat is contributing to his lame-duck status. Sadly, he will work with the dems to undermine Americans with respect to immigration.

Does this mean that a principled, God fearing man who lives by the tenets of his faith is not suitable to be President??
Or does it mean a man of manners is an ineffective leader?
I think conservatives need to fight the pervasive mindset of the liberals, which is even infecting conservatives. They seem to be winning (setting the agenda)
We're helping them win by participating in (thus validating) this ridiculous non-scandal.

I am not impressed, at all, with Gonzales but just think of who we will get, if he is fired.

Any nominee Bush puts forward who isn't to left of janet reno will be torn apart and since this administration has been officially castrated, it will end up a democrat nominee who will have a long list of Republican targets.

Gonzales (along with Harriet Miers) was also responsible for forcing Ted Olsen to change the administration's position on affirmative action in the U of Michigan cases. Whether that contributed to the absurd final result, who can say, but it would not surprise me if it did.

Bush should show some cojones and do a recess appointment if it comes to that.

Does this mean that a principled, God fearing man who lives by the tenets of his faith is not suitable to be President?? Or does it mean a man of manners is an ineffective leader?

It means that a man who will not fight on his own behalf to protect his personal integrity from being sullied by scoundrels, cannot always be expected to do what is right. While the president is to be lauded for his steadfastness on behalf of the oppressed Iraqis, he is too quick to surrender his own country's sovereignty to an illegal invasion.
