Setting aside religious proscription for a moment; I can see someone having a fear of trichinosis & therefore not wanting to touch pork. (I'm not saying that would be a well-founded fear; but, at least it would be understandable.) However, the clerks aren't being asked to touch pork -- they're being asked to touch packaging. You're not going to get trichinosis from a vacuum pack.

What does the Koran say about handling plastic?

Good point. She wasn't handling pork. She was handling Styrofoam and plastic.
