"Eventually" may be too late. We as a nation have a tendency to wait until the deck is stacked against us. In the past, we have overcome the odds and prevailed (as in WW2, Korea until the politicians "stalemated" the war), but I don't put much faith in today's crop of young people to get motivated to fight the good fight...especially when they'll actually have to break a sweat. Takes time away from X-Box, ya know.

I think today's young generation may surprise you. My daughter joined the Army after 9/11, and my grandson's father is a Marine who has already been deployed twice to Iraq. There are slackers out there, but there are also some damn fine kids.
