Actually she did try to kidnap her, and all her supplies indicate premediated murder, so yes she should be charged with attempted murder or, at least conspiracy to murder.

Sure you're not a DA in some backwater town like...say...Durham North Carolina?

It would seem another difference is that Peterson actually killed his wife.

No I am not a lawyer or a DA, and I never stay at Holiday Inn Express!

"They made more sacrifices than the ‘right stuff' guys. They have to balance two careers, be a mom, wife and an astronaut. You don't come home at night, like most of the male astronauts, and have everything ready for you.”

Gee; I guess after 4+ months in space the laundry and dishes back home really start to pile up!

She did everything possible to avoid leaving a trail. Purchasing a gun would have left an obvious paper trail.

If she was looking to scare and not kill; what were all the garbage bags for? Was she planning to win the rival over by offering to clean all the old fast food wrappers out of her car?

To be guilty of conspiracy, one has to conspire with another to commit an act. She's the only one involved (that we know of).

So they're not going to charge to voices in her head?
;-P

Really? She planned this for two months.

She may have contemplated something like this for two months, but I'd hardly call racing 900 miles in a diaper, to be at the airport when the other woman arrived, evidence of "planing".

Depends (No pun intended). When did she obtain the mace, garbage bags, knife, diapers and cash? What other signs of preparation took place and when?

Um, in the law it only takes one moment to constitute 'premeditation.'

Let's see, 900 miles, even while speeding isn't exactly a short trip.

As for the planning for two months, perhaps I misinterpreted what was said in the description of the events, I don't know.

Don't forget the rubber tubing, straight out of Sin City (the movie,) to make tourniquets to reduce blood flow as she dismembered the body.

I cannot see Lisa as a victim either.

I keep seeing two contradictory reports about the restraining order. One says a restraining order against Lisa was filed months before the attempted kidnapping, the other says it was filed afterward.

After watching this morning's news the story is beginning to make a bit more sense, and all the players have less of my sympathy.
Well...Nowak NEVER had any sympathy from me.
She deserved a good pepper spraying herself from the guy's ex-wife, but at least someone showed some decency and class.

Let's see...the male astronaut is a man-whore. The crazy one cheated with him while he was married and snapped over the shock that he would cheat on her.
The new girlfriend was well aware he was dating Lisa and didn't seem to care.

Am I close here?

The true victims are the man's ex-wife and children, and Nowak's husband and kids.

Agreed. And *maybe* the AF Captain who was pepper sprayed, depending on when she got involved with the horn-dog, and what she knew of the other relationship, if anything. Since she was in Florida at the Cape or Patrick AFB, and the rest of 'em where mostly in Houston, it's possible she didn't know about Nowak's relationship to the horn dog. But I haven't read anything about that. The story is not on my priority list of things to keep up with.

on this morning's news they revealed e-mails from the new girlfriend to the guy.
She knew he was dating Lisa.

A bunch of cheaters - all of 'em.
