"Telling the truth about Rooty, especially using his own words, isn't "hate". Facts are. They exist. Rooty is opposed to most of the GOP agenda. He endorses left wing ideas and candidates. Them are facts."

Okay, I was inclined to not answer you and give you the impression that I was paying attention, but THIS could not go unchallenged.

I will assume for the moment that you are not a New Yorker, and know nothing about life here between, say 1960 and the late 1980's, about how terrible it all was with regards to crime, vagrancy, filth, crack wars and so forth (a common problem in "Flyover Country" -- btw, that was NOT intended as an insult), except what you've heard, etc. Rudy Giuliani solved the majority of those problems by simply enforcing the laws vigorously and locking the criminals up. In the meantime, he garned nothing but vitriol from the like of Jesse Jackass, Al Sharpton and the rest of the poverty pimps.

If enforcing the law is now in opposition to the GOP platform, I must have missed the memo.

I also remember a time when personal income and property taxes in New York City were astronomically high. I then seem to remember 23 tax cuts under Giuliani as mayor.

If 23 tax cuts are now in opposition to the GOP platform, I must have missed the memo.

I also seem to recall a time when the labor unions ran city government in this town. Rudy Giuliani took tough stances and stood firm against the unions and got them to actually a) give something back (like actually requiring their members to work and be accountable), b) institute productivity plans, and c)hold rampant salaries in check.

If Union-checking is now in opposition to the GOP platform, I must have missed the memo.

I also recall that as Mayor of New York City, Rudy Giuliani was not responsible for gun control laws (the Federal gov't and the State Legislature were), or for enforcing immigration laws (the Federal gov't is). Nor was he responsible for rent control laws (the Assembly was). And that in a city with 2100 murders a year, some gun control was necessary in order to get the guns off the street and the criminals locked up. Incidentally, it was Mario Cuomo that passed the the worst of the gun registration and "assault weapons" bans in this state (with the dem-controlled Assembly), and Rudy had no choice but to enforce the laws as written and LEGALLY passed by an elected legislature, with the consent of the governed of New York State. (P.S. I have lived in New York all my life, and I not only own guns (even one that was grandfathered under the "Assault Weapons Ban", I've never had anyone try to grab them from me, particularly not my former mayor or his Gestapo).

Last time I looked, expecting a public servant to enforce or abide by the laws passed by legally constituted legislatures was not in opposition to the GOP platform, but alas, I must have missed that memo, too.

I recall that Rudy Giuliani left he city of New York, perpetually broke before he arrived, with a budget surplus of several billion (I believe 4) dollars when he left office. It took his successor (Bloomberg) little more than a year to turn this into a 6 billion dollar deficit, and implement an 18% property tax hike to cover the shortfall.

If turning a deficit into a surplus is now in opposition to the GOP platform, again, no one told me.

So, you don't agree with the man's social views. Fine. However, given the record stated here, Rudy Giuliani has been far more conservative (on those issues where government can actually make a difference) than just about everyone who's worn the badge since Goldwater.

Just admit that your pet peeves revolve around your fear of homosexuals, your deep-seeted psychosis-like need to be armed to the teeth in order to defend yourself from the un-savable sinners when the Rapture occurs, or, if God won't avail and begin the End of Days on a convenient schedule, perhaps start the Rapture on your own (ala David Koiresh) with an armed insurrection intended to implement your own brand of Taliban-like rule.

Get this through your head: Cultural conservatives have got it all wrong. After 30 years of insisting that elective politics is the best road towards (semi-)theocracy, the rest of us are beginning to have doubts, or tire of the same old song and dance (i.e. the preternaturally supid argument that half a loaf is the same as no bread). You will never legislate and enforce morality with the power of the state, and any action by any future government friendly to your views will only affect things in your favor at the margins, at best (which is what has happened since Reagan promised you a Constitutional ban on abortion).

In the meantime, you have three choices before you:

1. Stay home on Election Day and stew in your juices.
2. Perhaps take a more pragmatic view of the political climate, and perhaps learn to compromise, advancing conservatism on one front through gov't, and the on the other through conventional methods of persuasion in the community at large.
3. Take those guns you fear losing and give yourself a .45 caliber root-canal.

"3. Take those guns you fear losing and give yourself a .45 caliber root-canal."

I missed that. How nice.

The man who "wasn't in charge of gun control issues" yanked the gun permits of **27,000** law abiding citizens.
