What some people don't seem to realize is that many of us are (politically) conservatives first, Republicans second.

And that one's political ideology may have further root in religion, experience, philosophy, etc.

As a conservative, I will never vote for a liberal, even given a choice (woo-hoo!) between two liberals of different parties. As a Catholic, I will not vote for pro-abortion (etc.) politicians. As a citizen, I am strongly disposed against voting for a candidate who lacks basic honesty and decency (though I am cynical enough to realize that dealing with politicians the threshold has to be set fairly low in that regard).

Principles. Many of us vote based on our principles. Many other insult us for doing so.

I am confident in my position and I know which group of people I respect.
