Homosexual Activists Consider Targeting Private Christian Schools for "Homophobia"

OTTAWA, Ontario, February 27, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Ontario private schools are coming increasingly under the lens of homosexual activist groups for "homophobic" teaching stemming from the schools' primarily religious foundations, a report in Ottawa's homosexual news media indicated earlier this week.

In an article warning about the increasing trend toward private and religious schools in the province, Ottawa's Capital Xtra objected to religious schools that teach children "only their own values."

The article quotes Tony Lovink, a homosexual Christian teacher in the Ottawa public school system, as saying, "All private schools tend to be at least implicitly homophobic. And I would say all religiously formed independent schools are definitely homophobic."

The Coalition for Lesbian and Gay Rights in Ontario said they were concerned the provincial ministry of education wasn't "exerting more control" over the curriculum used by private religious schools. Unless a school wants to grant students government-recognized Secondary School Diplomas, Ontario private schools are free to use their preferred curriculum. Even schools that do grant the government diplomas may teach any additional material they choose, so long as the required curriculum is covered.

As well, the CLGRO objected to provincial standards that permit private schools to hire teachers based on the school administration's own qualification requirements.

In October 2006 the Quebec government ordered private Christian schools in the province to begin teaching sex education and Darwinism in compliance with the provincial curriculum, threatening schools with closure if they failed to comply.

Dr. Janet Epp Buckingham, then-director of law and public policy with the Evangelical Fellowship of Canada, told LifeSiteNews at the time that parents’ right to educate their children in accordance with their religious beliefs is protected under the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

In 1986 the Supreme Court ruled that although an Alberta pastor who was running a school out of the basement of his church did have to license the school, the provincial government had to provide reasonable accommodation for religious belief.

The court ruled that the province must “‘delicately and sensitively weigh the competing interests so as to respect as much as possible the religious convictions as guaranteed by the Charter,’” Dr. Epp Buckingham quoted.

In an ongoing battle over homosexual content in BC public school curriculums, parents are struggling to gain assurance from the school board that they may withdraw their children from pro-homosexual content in the classroom.

Homosexual activists Murray Corren and Peter Corren were granted an unprecedented say over the development of new pro-homosexual content in the provincial curriculum, as part of settlement in a human rights lawsuit against the province's Liberal government in June 2006. The agreement also introduced a policy that would prevent parents from withdrawing their children from the classroom when the material was being taught.

The Catholic Civil Rights League is continuing efforts to ensure all 60 BC school boards acknowledge parents' rights to oversee the education of their children.

Teachers and preachers speaking out about the evils of homosexualism should be a hate crime, don't you agree? People of any sexual perversion, er I mean persuasion should have EQUAL access to our school children.

"We've got to protect the rights of gays and lesbians."

Vote Rudy!! The homo sexual protector!

Actually, there is no such word as "homophobic".

There should be. Homosexuals are a threat to every parent and people should be afraid of their influence.

Rudy Giuliani: The Knight and ‘The Queen’

Rudy Giuliani: The Knight and ‘The Queen’

According to The London Times, New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani gives kisses before he leaves every morning, but to neither his estranged wife, nor his girlfriend. Instead, says The Times, “Sir Rudy” gives a peck on the cheek to the two homosexual men he’s living with.

“We always get a little kiss, it’s cute,” says wealthy car dealer Howard Koeppel, with whom Giuliani has been sharing an apartment since June. When Giuliani was recently knighted, Koeppel tells The Times that he told “Sir Rudy” to call him “Queen Howard.” Koeppel (63) and his homosexual lover Mark Hsiao (41) have been comforting Giuliani, and trying to make him laugh, in the aftermath of the September 11 attacks.

On the way to a recent fundraising dinner for the pro-homosexual state lobby group, The Empire State Pride Agenda (ESPA), Koeppel ribbed Giuliani by saying that if the ESPA was able to raise $100,000 donation for the homosexual victims of the September 11 attacks, Giuliani should agree to appear on Showtime’s controversial Queer as Folk dressed in drag. Surprisingly, Giuliani agreed.

Marty Algaze of Gay Men’s Health Crisis once summed up Queer as Folk — a show that touts graphic sexual activity as one of its biggest draws — as one that would “shock a lot of people.” Showtime’s Queer as Folk was inspired by the original series in Britain, which featured a storyline in which a 29-year-old man has a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

The propensity to shock people is not new to Giuliani, who likes to dress in women’s clothes as a stage act, and even did so once at a Pride Agenda fund-raiser.

According to the Times, Giuliani has attended every “gay pride” parade in New York during his eight years as mayor. In 1992, during his first run for mayor, Giuliani took part in a homosexual “pride” parade that included a contingent of pedophile activists marching behind a banner for NAMBLA (North American Man/Boy Love Association).

"prevent parents from withdrawing their children from the classroom when the [pro-homosexual] material was being taught."

Unreal.

You brute. You don't have to be so blunt. We Log Cabin republicans love Rudy, he's so manly and friendly to our cause.

I thought "homo" meant sameness, such as in homogeneity

When did he ever say he was for teaching it in the schools?

The answer is never. But facts like that don't matter a bit around here. The site that once took down Dan Rather couldn't take down Daffy Duck.

homodisgustus

Disgust is NOT a "phobia"!

and

Disgust is NOT "hate"!

I have seen lots of freepers promoting the homosexuals hero, Rudy.

The Log Cabin Republicans have recently said that "Rudy will support our agenda"

I'll find the link for ya, if it would make any difference.

"prevent parents from withdrawing their children from the classroom when the [pro-homosexual] material was being taught."

Whose tax money? Whose children? And they have the nerve to think they should have a say in what their children are being exposed to in their public schools. What's this world coming to?

Sadly, there are those even on FR who disagree with that.

I think you are missing the point. Think of incrementalism as a continuum from least to most extreme in terms of the homosexual agenda. Obviously, the Canadian homosexual agenda outlined in the article is not the first step in the implementation of that incrementalism. It is much further down the road. What people are objecting to here is allowing the incrementalism to proceed more aggressively in this county by electing a President who openly supports it. The issue is not whether Rudy suggests this type of teaching in the schools. The issue is whether Rudy enables this homosexual agenda to further itself on the continuum more than someone who openly opposes it.

I also have a problem with the "phobia" tag. Who says it's fear rather than discernment, or a belief in absolute truth, as set forth by God.

You know, they focus on fear because they're bullies. Bullies always try to get you to do something you have no desire, to do to prove you are not afraid.

What, you mean the man is not 100% for gay rights?

Drat, I'm going to have second thoughts about campaigning for him then. I swear I thought I heard Rudy say on Hannity and Colmes that we should respect and protect the rights of gays and lesbians. And now you tell me he's homophobic and is against teaching "homosexualism is perfectly normal" to our school children as the gays claim is their right?

I'm sooooo confused.

They do it to tag you with a made-up word to brand you as a bigot. "Homophobia" has been coined to term a "fear" of homosexuals out of intolerance and ignorance. It means you fear certain people because you don't understand them.

Pure BS.

Do you really think some of the posts on this thread are very adult?

Do you think calling people who support Rudy Giuliani treasonous liberals is appropriate?

Do you think the liberal media reads here? (Hint: They do)

Do you think they are laughing their heads off at freepers proving every stereotypical thing they've ever thought about us is a GOOD thing?

The next thing you're gonna tell me is that Rudy really doesn't believe that Abortion is a constitutional right or that he really doesn't believe guns are evil. He was just kidding about all that stuff too, right?

Go Rudy!! Abortion is RIGHT! Gay UNION forever!! Guns are EVIL!!
