I hope those who dismissed the consequences of a Democratic takeover in Congress last November are beginning to see the error of their ways. With each passing day the Democratic leadership is becoming more extreme and urgent in undermining America's cause in Iraq.
President Bush's 21,000-troop surge is well underway, and its accompanying strategy to secure Baghdad proceeds apace. Now, more than ever, our troops need our moral and spiritual support. Now, more than ever, Democrats -- and a disturbing number of Republicans -- are withdrawing it. Their actions are unconscionable.
Two weeks ago, we saw their failed resolution denouncing the build-up of American troops in Iraq. Over the weekend, they tried again, unsuccessfully.
On Friday, the House passed such a resolution by a comfortable vote of 246-182. But when Senate Republicans succeeded in blocking the resolution in the Senate, Democrats threw a tantrum, saying Republicans were stifling debate.

Limbaugh's right, of course, but he misses -- or doesn't address -- an important point: Many "conservatives" who didn't vote last year don't care about the consequences. They just want to pyss on people who have disappointed them. They're no more responsible than a two-year-old.
And that's just how the stinkin' DBM reported it!
You could also look at the Dem takeover in another light: It served as a wake up call to the RINOs and big spenders that conservative support is not a given and has to be earned.
Sigh. When will you people get off this? The Dems won because they won the independents, because the GOP Congress proved itself corrupt and undisciplined, and because the media successfully convinced them that the economy sucked and Iraq was a disaster. It was NOT because conservatives stayed home. We LOST the election, and all the bitching and griping in the world won't change that. I am quite sure that the vast majority of those who voted for the Dems are still happy they did, and if they saw the reaction from some here, it would convince them still more they were right.

.... and those people would be the conservative useful idiots that wanted to "send a message". Well jackasses, we got your message. It was pinned to the back of our war fighters with a knife and plastic face pelosi's fingerprints on it.
It almost always turns out that way anyway.
People are starting to notice the bias....for example, the difference in the way the alleged crimes committed by 'Scooter' Libby and those admitted crimes committed by Sandy Berger have been treated.
One gets a slap on the wrist for stealing important documents from a secured facility and the other is accused of not remembering what he said to Tim Russert.
Sometimes hypocrisy has to get pretty deep before people catch on, but even my liberal friends are on to this.
Yes, I held my nose and voted for him in 2004. And I voted as near Republican as I could in 2006.
Bush's unnecessary spending, his failure to prosecute criminal Democrats, his failure to clean out Foggy Bottom, his love of Mexico over the US, his deals with Saudi Arabia, his failure to let the military win the war, etc., adds up to a massive amount of disillusionment that overwhelmed many ungrounded voters.
There are many other Bush failures too. People can't see a dime's worth of difference between Whorhay and Dems in charge.
Bush has not been a very good president, for basically the reasons you cite. But a Rat would be an utter disaster, and that's much more than a dime's worth of difference.
We can hope so, but I strongly doubt it. My sense of these people is that they never learn, and don't want to.

Even if correct for the most part, there were some conservatives who stayed home. That might have made the difference in a few races, like the Senate race in MT. If the Repub had won the Dems wouldn't control the Senate now.
And I'm sure statements like that will get 'em back in '08.

I keep hearing this mantra and I'm not buying it. It was the stupid people in the middle, the so-called moderates, that cost us the election. You know, the people who don't know what the hell they believe until someone tells them. Well, the democrats did a better job of telling them then our side did.
