How much will someone pay for a humble, small-town home that sheltered a future senator, vice president and presidential candidate?
Lorrie Krosch is hoping to find out.
She is selling the boyhood home of Walter Mondale in Elmore, Minn., on eBay. Starting bid: $50,000.
"When I bought it, it was so run-down it could have been knocked down," said Krosch, who bought the house at 208 E. Mondale St. in 2003 for $15,000. She spent more than three years refurbishing it, doing most of the work herself.

Man, I would buy that and just turn it into a plush out house.
Oh, the things I would do to desecrate that place on a daily basis is just mind boggling ;)
No thanks. I'm saving up to buy Mike Dukakis' boyhood home! //~sarc
I guess it's historical, in a macabre kind of way. "Own the home of the biggest electoral loser in history." Some selling point, that.
Nope. I'm waiting to buy the clintoonians plush digs and turn it into Vast Right Wing Conspiracy HQ.
That would be sweet!
Maybe turn it into a whore house.
Someone should buy it and turn it into the local headquarters for the Republican Party.
She should have hired a decorator. It sux.
Yes if I liked the house I don't care who owned it before me.
That is awesome!!!
Why would someone want to harm the potential sales value that way by mentioning that someone like Mondale once lived there?
(I'd rather buy a house where a mass murder took place.)
Don't know how much you know about Boston area real estate but Brookline, the Tank Commander's home town,is one of the richest towns in the state and it's very,*very* easy to spend $500K on a 700 sq ft,one bedroom, one bath condo there (I know because I recently looked to buy there).
So my guess is that the land upon which his boyhood sits is worth $500K...even if the structure itself is falling down.
better yet, make it HQ for the Taxpayers League of MN.
ROFL! Mondale lost 49 states to Reagan, he lost MN when he lost to Coleman, and now he's going to lose his house!
Number 1.....I despise wallpaper. lol And all that lacy stuff and pink stuff would have to go. Looks like the mauves of 15 or so years ago.
Guess she is stuck in time.
