Ricky Martin Defends Obscene Gesture
Associated Press ^ | 2/16/2007 | Associated Press

Ricky Martin, who was a headliner at the 2001 inauguration ball for President George W. Bush, has a message for the American commander in chief about war.

At a recent concert, the 35-year-old singer stuck up his middle finger when he sang the president's name in his song "Asignatura Pendiente," which includes the words, "a photo with Bush." The gesture last Friday prompted cheers from thousands of fans in the San Juan stadium.

On Thursday, the Puerto Rican heartthrob repeated his criticism of the Iraq war and explained his changed position on Bush.

"My convictions of peace and life go beyond any government and political agenda and as long as I have a voice onstage and offstage, I will always condemn war and those who promulgate it," Martin said about his action in an e-mail statement sent to The Associated Press via a spokesman.

Another artist that thinks that the public needs or wants to hear their opinions about Iraq or the war-on-terror or any other topic. Ricky, just like any other "entertainer" needs to just shut up and sing or act.

I am primarily an American and secondarily a Puerto Rican. As a fellow Puerto Rican, I'm not feeling too proud right now that a fellow Puerto Rican can be as narrow-minded as Ricky Martin. Like most of Hollywood and most war protesters, Ricky cannot see beyond his simple-minded view of the war-on-terror. I would ordinarily ignore what an entertainer has to say regarding politics or foreign policy, but, since the general public that they entertain is a captive audience from their entertainment, I feel that they have to be battled or defended against.

Today, I'm not proud at all that Ricky Martin is a fellow Puerto Rican.

The 'funny' part will be when one of these terrorists annihilates hundreds of thousands of these liberal retards by popping a nuke over one of the liberal strongholds (a city).

It's probably the only thing that will get through to the massive number of groupthink libtards, but there will still be a good number who will not ever 'get it'.

He hasn't had a big hit in the American charts in the last few years, but he's a very big star in Puerto Rico and in South America.

I've never been a fan of his, but this latest remark of his makes him even less popular as far as I'm concerned.

Did you send a special envoy to Ahmadinejad to proclaim your condemnation of his war promulgation as well, you twit?

How 'bout Bin Laden -- did your special courier carry your message to his cave in the mountains of Waziristan?

F**k off, fudgepacker.

They scare me the second-most.

The most stupid and the most frightening to me are the ones who say, "It's time for a woman president, no matter what her ideology is."
