The big rush at the CMP right now is the up comming sale of carbines (for the 1st time in years and years, maybe the last time.) Thanks for the heads-up regarding the M1 carbines; I've always wanted one. I've purchased from CMP before but hadn't visited the website in months.

The feeling I get is that they are going to push them through the system ASAP because of the obvious issues with the things.
I've got a mini 14 which, more or less, fills that niche for me. However, a new gun is always hard to resist...

Check out the text of McCarthy's bill. The M1 carbine is banned, by name. The appendix from the old ban that exempted the Garand is gone. The killer sentence is that any semiautomatic ever "used by the military or Federal law enforcement is not suitable for sporting purposes" That covers your Remington 1100 birdgun guys!!!
